Superformance SPS0024 is a "slab-side" MKII that combines classic
British styling with robust American horsepower. The hand-laminated
fiberglass body was built with reinforced inserts and an optional
hood scoop, then covered in magnificent British Racing Green.
Aesthetically and dimensionally accurate, the car features key
touches including original style turn indicator lenses, headlights,
handcrafted windshield frame in chrome over brass and authentic
style windshield wipers. The roadster even rides on original-style
15-inch wire wheel rims with real spinners shod by Dunlop Signature
II tires.
The roadster is powered by a Roush 331SRX Crate Engine installed by
Gulf Coast Motorworks; topped by a Holley carburetor on an
Edelbrock Hi-Po intake manifold, MSD ignition, and steel braided
fuel lines. Power is fed into a Tremec TKO600 5 Speed transmission
and a ZF limited-slip differential. Additional details include
finned Cobra valve covers, a polished air cleaner with a "289"
decal, silver ceramic coated headers and black ceramic coated
exhaust with chrome tip.
The cockpit features fixed-back bucket seats trimmed in quilted
cream leather along with matching door panels and transmission
tunnel trim. Details include fresh air vents, a heater, and a
locking glove box. The wood-rimmed steering wheel features an AC
horn button and sits ahead of a linen leather dashboard housing
Stewart Warner instrumentation.
This Superformance MK II Street 289 has an original John Tojeiro
designed chassis based on a 3" heavy duty TIG welded ladder frame
and crossmembers with crumple zones. The rack & pinion steering
keeps the car pointed and the fully independent front and rear
transverse leaf spring style suspension has Bilstein custom crafted
shocks. Stopping power comes from the power disc Wilwood
power-assisted vented disc brakes (four piston calipers in the
front and single in the rear).
The Superformance MK II Street 289 is a meticulously engineered and
crafted reproduction of the original, built under license from
Carroll Shelby Licensing Inc. No expense was spared in recreating
this legendary car, ensuring an authentic sports car
experience.
SP0024 is titled and registered in Florida as a 1963 Ford with
1,337 miles and is available for $134,950.
