Vehicle Description
Beginning in 1979, the Eighth Generation of Cadillac Eldorado was
introduced and carried through the 1985 model year. It was a
smaller, slimmer vehicle with several drivetrain variants used
along the way in an effort to meet stricter Federal emission and
fuel economy requirements from year to year. To help maintain
interior and trunk space, Cadillac also introduced an independent
rear suspension system. They shared the same E-body chassis
platform as the Buick Riviera and Oldsmobile Toronado with
front-wheel-drive. Bearing the name Biarritz meant a Cadillac was
equipped with the top tier package that included a brushed
stainless-steel roof that covered the front passenger compartment
with the rear half being covered with a padded landau vinyl top.
The interior showcases "pillowed" style velour or leather seating
with contrasting piping, along with many other options.
It's no surprise that the Eldorado was featured by Hagerty in their
December 2023 article "The 1979-85 Cadillac Eldorado is slow, soft,
and superb."
