Vehicle Description
From 1953 through 1956 Ford was on its second generation of the
F-series trucks. They marketed these models as the "Triple Economy"
series and would span a comprehensive range of vehicles ranging
from light-duty to heavy-duty commercial vehicles. These second
series of F-trucks were produced at eleven facilities across the
United State and also had production facilities in Canada and
Brazil. Now far from stock or how it was equipped when new, this
Purple beaut comes to us from a widow whose late husband built this
truck. So, unfortunately there are no restoration documents, lists
of what has been done nor much comprehensive knowledge of whats
been done. What I can tell you is that this truck starts, runs and
goes down the road very nicely. In fact, the seller drove this car
here over two hours and she said she loved it. It does appear to me
that the big block power plant is a GM, maybe out of a 70's truck.
It is mated to a automatic transmission that shifts nicely. It
starts and idles in seconds, has a really nice rumble to it and
makes what appears to be quite a bit of power at the rear wheels.
It is not a smoky or leaky truck. There is a really nice electronic
guage cluster that works well. The wiring needs some tidying up but
other than that, you can get in the truck and cruise with nothing
needed. The lights work, there is power steering and brakes and is
ready to be enjoyed.
