Vehicle Description
-Bali Blue over Fawn Leather Seats with Fawn Carpeting, 1600cc Flat
4-Cylinder Engine, 4-Speed Manual Transaxle, Previously Serviced
and Sold by Autosport Designs, Rare and Desirable Factory Sunroof,
Factory wood rimmed 356 Carrera steering wheel, Period Blaupunkt
radio, Older restored, Converted to 12 volt.
The 356 is widely regarded as one of the most enduring postwar
sporting models with modern for the era mechanical improvements,
including a 95 horsepower 1600cc engine, dual Solex carburetors,
and disc brakes.
This 356C Sunroof Coupe, the final evolution of the 356 production
run was completed at Porsche's Zuffenhausen-based factory during
the fall of 1963. Equipped with disc brakes as standard equipment,
the new Porsche also featured the desirable Sunroof option and was
finished in one of the best 356 colors in our opinion, Bali Blue,
the color which it retains today.
The Reutter bodywork has been refinished, but it retains the '963'
body number stampings, reflecting the last three digits of the
chassis number, indicating that all body panels are original to
this 356 from new. The engine is a period-correct 356C 1600cc type
616/15 unit, but its number sequence shows it being produced a few
months later than the original.
Previously sold by us to a good friend of Autosport Designs, a Los
Angeles, California resident, it has recently been traded to us
towards another automobile from our inventory. A perfect vintage
automobile for vintage rally as well as show, this 356C Sunroof
Coupe, equipped from the factory with the desirable sunroof option
offers a wonderful great blend of Coupe and well as open top
motoring.
The 356C is considered by many to be among the best 356 models
made, featuring factory disc brakes and the many other developments
and upgrades carried out over the fifteen-year 356 production run.
Excellent in every way, it is ready for immediate use and
enjoyment.
