The last year of the Gen1 Chevelle was a great one. By 1967, the
SS396 was no longer an option to the Chevelle line, but a model in
and of itself. A factory '67 SS396 received a VIN number of
'13817...' to identify its authenticity. This beautiful SS396 is a
'138 code' Chevelle and has been beautifully restored and
mechanically enhanced. If you love the sound of the big-block
motor, this is your Chevelle. The SS is top-shelf. According to the
trim tag, the original color was Ermine White (code CC), but the
professional 2-stage respray of Dark Grey is stunning. Chevy rally
wheels (6" front/8" rear) that mount 15" Cooper redline radials.
The red vinyl interior has been completely restored to original -
upholstery, door cards, headliner, carpeting and dash are all
top-shelf. Features include new air conditioning, bucket seats,
center console, Z/28-style wheel on a tilt column, tinted windows
and SS mats.
The owner states that the original 396ci motor has been replaced
with a period-correct 427ci big-block 'Rat' that sits in a spotless
engine compartment. This carefully built, fully dressed 427 sports
a single plane aluminum intake, Holly double pumper, full-tube
headers and free-flow dual exhaust. The cam is very serious, but
not radical. Engine cooling is managed by a serpentine belt system,
heavy-duty aluminum radiator and electric fan. This Chevelle is
very streetable - and sounds magnificent. The aftermarket 5-speed
manual gearbox is fitted with a Hurst Comp+ shifter and transfers
torque to a 12-bolt posi-traction differential with performance
gearing. Underneath, the chassis has been totally refreshed. It is
equipped power steering, power disc/drum brakes w/dual master
cylinder and SS suspension with front/rear sway bars. This Chevelle
SS427 is truly a unique investment and belongs in your Bowtie
garage. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS".
