For Sale: 1939 Diamond T Truck in St. Louis, Missouri
Looking for a rare and unique one family owned piece of history?
This 1939 Diamond T may be a worthy candidate for restoration or
use as is in all original condition. We acquired this great find
from the original family that has kept it stored inside since 1964
when it was last on the road in Minnesota!
The red paint on the cab is in satisfactory order while the chrome
trim was likely painted as a result of the run-up to World War II.
The bodywork is straight and solid even though some of the details
are not top-notch, such as the passenger side of the windshield
that is cracked. The rest of the glass is in original condition.
The engine bay is in satisfactory order. We got the truck running
under its own power, but it will require the brakes to be gone
through.
The truck rolls on Goodyear Hi-Miler tires, size 7.00-20, with a
tandem axle in the back. The truck's six-lug Budd wheels are in
mediocre order, as were the tires. The truck has a 17,000 GVWR
Inside, there's brown and tan bench seat that is in original used
condition and the floorboard is missing. The dashboard is in
similar condition. Included with the sale are numerous collectable
items that have been with the family for numerous decades. Three
new in box mirrors for grain belt beer, two kegs, wooden, spare hub
cabs, 2 old beer cases, mud flaps, mirrors, bumper, lens', old
carburetor, road flares, and engine crank.
The Deluxe range of Diamond T trucks had broken new ground during
the 1930s for styling of commercial vehicles. They were decorated
with chrome and stainless steel that was done in both a modern and
progressive way.
The mid-1930s Diamond T Deluxe series were given a grille that was
reminiscent of the Zephyr locomotive. They had cast-iron Budd
wheels and whitewalls.
Grain Belt is a brand of beer brewed in Minnesota by the August
Schell Brewing Company. The beer has been produced in a number of
varieties. Grain Belt Golden was the original style introduced in
1893.
If you are seeking a new project, this pre-war Diamond T truck may
be the next challenge you've been looking for. Stop by MotoeXotica
Classic Cars today to check it out.
