For Sale: 1965 Shelby Cobra Replica in Asheboro, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

This Factory Five Racing Mk3 Roadster is a Cobra replica that was manufactured in 2007 and was acquired by the Dealer in 2023,  Subsequent work from the previous seller is said to have included refinishing the car in red with black stripes and retrimming the interior as well as installing a polycarbonate windshield, a body-color removable hardtop, power-assisted steering, and a front anti-roll bar. Power is provided by a 383ci stroker V8, which has reportedly been fitted with a forged rotating assembly, a gear-driven Comp Cams camshaft, an eight-quart baffled oil pan, MSD ignition, an Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake manifold, Procomp cylinder heads, a fuel-injection system with a Ford Lightning-sourced throttle body, and an oil cooler. Additional equipment includes a Tremec five-speed manual transmission, an Auburn Gear locking differential, Koni adjustable coilover suspension, 17″ alloy wheels, and four-wheel disc brakes with a Wilwood master cylinder in addition to black-finished side exhaust outlets, dual roll hoops, a quick-release steering wheel, and Simpson four-point harnesses.
The Dealer states that the previous owner stated that fiberglass bodywork was refinished in red with black over-the-top stripes under current ownership. Additional exterior details include a body-color removable hardtop, dual roll hoops, quick-jack bumperettes, fender vents, bullet-style mirrors, quarter-panel stone guards, wind wings, black-finished side exhaust outlets, a Le Mans-style fuel filler cap, and a Lexan windshield, quarter windows, and rear hatch window. The Dealer notes there is a distortion in the driver’s side of the windshield. Close-up photos of blemishes in the finish are presented in the gallery below.
Staggered-width 17″ Mustang FR500-style wheels are finished in black with polished lips and are wrapped in 275/40 front and 315/35 rear Sumitomo tires. The suspension features Koni adjustable coilovers as well as Factory Five Racing upper and lower control arms. The seller states that the car has been fitted with a power-assisted steering system as well as a power steering fluid cooler. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes, which feature a Wilwood master cylinder and an adjustable proportioning valve as well as 13″ front rotors and 11.5″ rear rotors.
The Dealer states that the high-back bucket seats and the dashboard were retrimmed under current previous ownership, and black carpeting lines the interior. Features include Simpson four-point harnesses, tinted sun visors, aluminum pedals, and a polished shift knob.
The wood- and leather-trimmed steering wheel is attached to a quick-release hub, and it frames an AutoMeter a 160-mph speedometer along with a matching tachometer. Auxiliary gauges for oil pressure, oil temperature, voltage, coolant temperature, and fuel level are mounted in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 5k miles, approximately 4,200 of which were added under previous ownership.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec five-speed manual transmission and an Auburn Gear locking differential, the latter of which reportedly features 4.10:1 gearing. The seller states that the car is equipped with a 22-gallon aluminum fuel tank.  The Factory Five Racing data plate describes the car as a Mark III Roadster and displays 2007 as the year of manufacture. The stamped serial number F5R1005969RD corresponds to the VIN listed on the Texas title, which lists the vehicle as a 2006 ASVE and denotes “REPLICA: 1965 COBR” under the “Remarks” section.
The 351ci Windsor V8 was reportedly stroked to displace 383ci, and it is said to have received replacement gear drive timing components as well as a fuel-injection system, a Comp Cams camshaft, and a high-torque starter motor under previous ownership. The Dealer states that the oil and the fuel filter were changed in preparation for the sale. Additional equipment reportedly includes the following components:

Forged connecting rods and 11.5:1 compression pistons
Comp Cams hydraulic rollers
Crane roller rocker arms
Procomp aluminum cylinder heads
Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake manifold
Ford Lightning-sourced 90mm throttle body with mass air flow sensor
80-lb high-impedance fuel injectors
Canton eight-quart baffled oil pan
Remote oil filter housing
Walbro fuel pump
MSD ignition system
