Vehicle Description
This 1979 Ford F-150 Ranger is about workhorse features you want in
a 4x4 pickup, and still not have to give up the cool custom vintage
appearance. And there's just something irresistible about having
one vehicle that's both a sharp-looking vintage machine and a
well-priced useful pickup.
The F-150's big, square-shouldered design is only enhanced by
features like the raised suspension, meaty BF Goodrich All-Terrain
T/As, and diamond plate rear bumper. But just like a loyal bulldog,
this pickup is still approachably friendly. The blue paint looks
good in the sunshine, and the upgraded pacer wheels and premium
Ranger trim mean there's plenty of brightwork to accompany it. And
we like the full mix of a clean-looking style that never gets too
fancy to do real work. After all, this has nice features like the
tow mirrors, a proper trailer hitch, and a diamond plate toolbox in
the bed.
Open the door, and you'll see some obvious signs of an investment
in keeping this truck comfortable. The black vinyl bench seat looks
newer, and we love the bold blue inserts that break up the black.
Clan door panels, a smooth dash, and upgraded tinted windows make
this a nice place to spend some time. And the extra clean vinyl
floor is a great way to look good while still making sure you don't
mind chipping in with your boots on. There are nice vintage details
like the dual-spoke Ford steering wheel and an AM radio there for a
display. But there are also good upgrades for a better driver. You
have an auxiliary gauge trio under the dash, and the factory air
conditioning has been converted to run on modern R134a (it will
need servicing to blow cold again.)
Powering this pickup is Ford's hardy 351 cubic-inch V8. It's a
strong runner with a nice tune out of the glasspack-style dual
exhaust. It may be hard to resist taking this one off the pavement
considering it's a 4x4 with a two-speed transfer case, enhanced
ground clearance, and meaty off-road tires. Of course, for the days
you just want to go to hit the town, this feels solid on the road
thanks to features like the three-speed automatic transmission,
power steering, and recently updated power brakes with front
discs.
Complete with maintenance records, this is a sharp-looking and
extra-capable version of the distinctly-styled '79 F-Series. So if
you love an attractive classic that also loves to get to work, call
