Vehicle Description
This 2004 Chevrolet SSR Pickup Truck is a nicely preserved,
low-mileage future collectible that is ready for some serious
summer cruising! Originally touted in Chevrolet's marketing
materials as "Part Pickup. Part Roadster. Pure Joyride.", the SSR
was really part concept car and part production vehicle. Taking
design influences from Chevrolet's "Advance Design" era pickups
from 1947-1955, Chevrolet debuted the "Super Sport Roadster" in
January 2000 at the Detroit Auto Show. Shortly thereafter GM's
management announced that the concept would be put into production,
with the SSR pickup debuting New Year's Eve 2002 as a 2003 model.
Despite borrowing its style from Chevrolet's early workhorse
trucks, the SSR was less utilitarian than the early Chevy pickups
and instead had more of a performance oriented slant. In fact, the
2003 SSR was selected as the Pace Car for the 87th running of the
Indianapolis 500 race. Although the SSR debuted to much fanfare,
the public just wasn't ready for a Chevy "throwback" and Chevrolet
stopped production in March of 2006. In total, less than an
estimated 25,000 SSRs were produced in the four year production
run, making this nostalgic pickup a pretty rare automobile,
especially in today's standards. Under the hood on this SSR Pickup
is a Vortec 5300 5.3 Liter V8 fuel injected engine that was said to
have pushed out 300 horsepower from the factory. The Vortec 5.3L is
hooked up to a 4L60E Automatic Transmission that makes this future
collectible easy for anybody to drive. Exhaust exits this Chevy's
fuel injected V8 via dual tailpipes with chrome tips. Being that
this SSR is a late model collectible, it comes loaded with creature
comforts! Rack and pinion power steering makes turning this '04 SSR
into tight spaces a total breeze. With 4 wheel power disc brakes
with vented rotors and ABS, bringing this Chevrolet SSR to a
complete stop is simple. You'll be sure you keep the rubber to
pavement on this 300hp pickup since it is outfitted with
independent front suspension and a 5-link rear setup capped off
with a Zexen-Torsen limited slip rear differential and electronic
traction control. The color-matched power retractable convertible
top goes up and down with ease and is operated with the simple
flick of a switch. Riding on 255/45R19 radials in the front with
295/40ZR20s in the rear, this '04 SSR has a mean look and fantastic
ride. The exterior has been finished in Slingshot Yellow, just how
this pickup came back in 2004. This SSR's interior is gorgeous and
loaded with options! The 6-way power adjustable bucket seats are
upholstered in Ebony leather and are separated by a center console.
The black carpeting, door panels, leather-wrapped steering wheel
and dash are all in wonderful condition and appear to be in their
stock configuration. You'll be able to stay cool even on the
hottest summer days since this Chevy SSR is equipped with air
conditioning, or if you just want to feel that summer breeze on
your face, you can easily put the power windows down with the push
of a button. Cruise control is also included on this SSR for even
more enjoyable summer cruising. Additionally, the dual outside
mirrors are power adjustable further adding to the luxury feel of
this pickup truck. The instrument cluster is equipped with 140 MPH
Speedometer, 7,000 RPM tachometer, temperature gauge, oil pressure
gauge, and fuel gauge. The original AM/FM/CD player has been
upgraded to a Pioneer AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth system, so that you can
listen to all of your tunes going down the road. Whether you're
buying your first collectible car or you're adding to an existing
collection, this 2004 Chevrolet SSR Pickup would make an excellent
choice. Give Ellingson's a call at 763-428-7337!
