1981 Jeep CJ-7 - Perfect Weekend Cruiser or Daily Driver - 350ci V8
- Turbo 350 Automatic Transmission - Fiberglass Body - Full Soft
Top and Doors - Maroon Exterior - Black Interior Featured here is
an outstanding 1981 Jeep CJ-7 that has been fully rebuilt and
tastefully modified. This Jeep is ready for weekends full of
exploring two-tracks, dune cruising or just pulling duty as a daily
driver with a rugged image. During the resto-modification process,
the original body was replaced with a fiberglass tub, and still
retains the original front-end sheet metal which includes the front
fenders, hood, and trademark Jeep grille. The body was painted a
deep burgundy color and the finish shines with a rich luster. The
bumpers have been upgraded with a front double tubular bumper and a
rock crawler-style rear bumper with a receiver hitch. The hood and
windshield hinges along with the rearview mirrors have been
upgraded with chrome replacements along with a Best Top removable
soft top and frame with soft doors. Inside the Jeep remains for the
most part stock appearing; however, the factory hoop roll bar was
upgraded to a full roll bar kit to better protect the driver and
passenger. The front seats have been upgraded to high-back bucket
seats and a locking center console complete with cup holders was
added as well. The factory Speedometer and gauge package are still
intact in the factory steel dash along with the heater and
ventilation system and controls. Gear selection is handled by a
floor-mounted B&M shifter with stock controls for the transfer
case. The interior has been coated with a truck bedliner coating to
protect the floors and for ease of clean up. Under the hood sits a
lightly modified Chevrolet 5.7-liter V8. The engine features a
Summit Racing 4bbl carburetor with an electric choke sitting atop
an aluminum Edelbrock Performer intake. A GM HEI ignition lights
the fires in the combustion chamber and the burnt gases flow
smoothly through a set of high-performance headers into a dual
exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. An Edelbrock open-element air
cleaner and a set of Chevy Performance chrome valve covers add some
additional bling to the nicely detailed engine compartment. This
hot setup stays cool through an aluminum radiator with factory
shroud and flex fan. Power is transferred through GM 350THM 3-speed
automatic transmission through the stock AMC transfer case. The
stock differentials are in place with the front differential having
manual lockout hubs. Underneath the chassis has been nicely
detailed and painted in chassis black. The frame is clean with the
back half of the frame having been boxed in and strengthened. This
Jeep sports a 4 suspension lift that is further enhanced by a set
of 15 Mickey Thompson Alloy wheels wrapped in 33 M/T Baja MTZ
radial tires. The suspension has been well maintained and includes
new shocks on all four corners and a new steering dampener. Power
Steering makes turning those massive Mickey Thompson tires
effortless, and power-assisted brakes with front discs and rear
drums bring this rugged Jeep to a halt with ease. There is no doubt
owning a Jeep is more than just owning a fun-to-drive vehicle, it
is a lifestyle. Jeep owners are a tight-knit group that share a
passion for the outdoors and driving the road less traveled. Please
