Vehicle Description
1986 GMC High Sierra 3/4 Ton Pickup
Officially named the "Rounded-Line" trucks by GM, the 1973-1987
Chevy C/K trucks were known more casually as the "box-body" or
"square-body" pickup. Sporting a new body style that incorporated
rounded corners around the wheel well in addition to a rounded
windshield and door frames, the third-generation Chevy C/K trucks
had an entirely new look. Larger and wider, the pickups looked more
box-like, which is why they were coined the "box-body" trucks.
For consignment, a 4x4 K25 High Sierra from 1986. A comfy driver,
big knobby off road tires, a like new interior, all wrapped up in
arrest me red paint with drilled and polished 15-inch wheels and
knobby off-road tires, a rebuilt 396ci V8 and Jasper 3 speed
automatic. Like a rock....but better!
NOTE: Due to varying emissions control devices being removed,

Exterior
Known as the rounded line as tagged by GM, the lines appear to be
more square and rectangle than anything else. This includes a
rectangular blacked out chrome trimmed grille with square
headlights stacked above square maker lights all in square bezel
panels and a shiny bumper below. Straight bright red fresh steel
wraps all sides and the bed, and all support well minded gaps. Some
thin stainless trimmings finish off the wheel wells and straight
clean body lines and High Sierra 2500 trimmings and badges dress up
the slab steel sides. Black and shiny stainless trimmings surround
the glass and for a little extra bling the drip rails are
highlighted with shiny stainless trimming. The bed is covered with
a black plastic drop in liner and a Bully net gate spans the gap
where the original tailgate oncewas. 15-inch drilled and polished
Mickey Thompson aluminum wheels are wrapped by like new
37x14.00R15LT Mickey Thompson all-weather deep tread tires.
Interior
Black molded vinyl buttons up the new door panels and these have a
nicely contrasting brushed aluminum insert that holds the door pull
and vie for space against padded vinyl armrests and a 3d vertical
ribbed insert. This panel is trimmed with a shiny crank for the
window and sits within the beautiful red surround of the door
shell. Inside is a freshly recovered black vinyl bench seat with
smooth black vinyl bolsters on the sides and stitched tuck and roll
cushions that make up the seating. The original dash is intact and
looking clean with a multitude of inset round gauges within a
brushed aluminum panel and a black plastic band is below and holds
the headlight pull, a few toggles and a modern AM/FM/Cassette
stereo. The new dash top is clean and shows no cracking or
distortions and the lower is all steel in body matching red. Above
is a red steel formed headliner, and on the floors is clean medium
pile black carpet with the transfer case shifter in the middle
within its black housing.
Drivetrain
A consignor stated rebuilt and bored .030 over 396ci V8 is topped
with a single Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock aluminum
intake manifold. A rebuilt Jasper TH400 3-speed automatic
transmission is bolted to the back of this big mill. This setup
throws power rearward and forward via the transfer case to 3.07
geared axles,10 bolt in the front and 14 bolt in the rear. The
entire engine bay looks original and great with its chrome bolt ons
and supple hoses.
Undercarriage
Not to be outdone by the topside, the undercarriage appears to have
never seen bad weather, and is also fully restored. Straight
rust-free steel for the flooring and frame is protected with a nice
application of black paint and the cab floors and corners remain
rust free. Providing the truck-like ride are leaf springs both fore
and aft and power disc brakes are on front, and power drums for the
rear. A pair of shiny headers snake their way down from the mill
and join up with glasspack equipped dual exhaust sans catalytic
converters with dual tips under the rear bumper.
Drive-Ability
A quick fire up and the engine came to life! This High Sierra drove
just like a truck should. Adequate acceleration, good braking and
it handled all our test track had to offer. All mechanicals were
working save for the USB port on the radio, and the interior proved
to be visually appealing and comfortable thanks in part to it being
redone.
A fine overall restoration job and showing near showroom for the
exterior and interior. The well running rebuilt engine and the
engine bay is simply...well fabulous! I could use my pickup line
right now, but I digress, and will just say a classic truck will
not get any better in our Hallowed Halls than this baby. Ready to
haul anything, even some serious ass!
