The car was delivered on March 3rd, 1960 to John Geer Chevrolet in Sacramento, Ca … On March 11th William White jr, a Navy Pilot walked into the Dealership and put 1$,500 dollars down. Along with a co-signature from his father Sir William White they became the new owners of this beautiful Dual Quad 1960 Corvette finished in Horizon Blue and after 36 Consecutive payments of $96.28 this car was his alone. He cherished and babied this car his entire life, and fully restored it in 2005. He enjoyed up until recently with his passing, this is truly a single owner Corvette !!! almost unheard in today’s market we have an original purchase order in his name, title and some registrations dating back to his transfers in the service.
As a Navy Pilot one can assume speed and performance was the driven factor in settling to buy a Corvette as they were some of the fastest cars around coined the reputation of Americas S[orts Car !! Opting for one of the most sought after performance variations young William hand picked the 283 Dual Quads variant producing 270hp with its 4 speed and posi-traction configuration. Although fuel injection was state of the art many felt the Dual Quads offered more reliable and similar performance. Both fast indeed but the haul to 100 MPH gave victor to the 2x4’s.
This particular car was finished in its current color tone of Horizon Blue and White Coves and Blue interior (the white seat inserts were added later) . The car has lived a west coast life and is free of corrosion. It was stripped and redone in 2005 along with its mechanicals and interior. Having not being a weekend hobby car it was never thoroughly shown other than to a few local events of which it won several times.
