Vehicle Description
This early millennium muscle car sure checks a lot of boxes.
Aesthetics? Absolutely. Its fourth generation Trans Am exterior is
appealingly aerodynamic and decked out in a great color. Top-notch
condition? Check. You won't soon find a classic that's logged fewer
miles and is running in absolute top form. Well-equipped?
Definitely. It's armed with a variety of upgrades that come part
and parcel with its special edition status. This 2001 Pontiac
Firebird Trans Am WS6 convertible will even pull into its next home
with its original window sticker onboard to document its maiden
journey off the showroom floor.
Firebirds received a fairly substantial makeover only a few years
before this '01 debuted and you can see some of Pontiac's handiwork
in the form of its sleek hood with its dual intakes. We'd normally
think of those intakes as ornamentation and nothing more, but by
virtue of this being a WS6, those nostril-like scoops are fully
functional, ushering cold, dense air to the engine via a Ram Air
intake. The bright red paint that's on display here still shows a
great shine and a session at the hands of a skilled detailer will
take this Firebird's curb appeal to an even higher level. Hard as
it is to believe, this car has only journeyed about 4100 miles -
that's about 1/3 of a year's worth of driving for most of us - and
you can see the upsides of that newness on its unmarred exterior
and fresh-looking black convertible top that seals nicely and
raises into position with no issues. This Pontiac's fold down
headlights function just as intended and sit flush in their lowered
position.
You wouldn't expect much sign of wear inside the doors of a car
that's so lightly travelled, and this Ebony leather interior
certainly doesn't disappoint in this regard. It's in unusually
clean shape, with no creasing on the bolsters of the high-backed
bucket seats, no warping on the dash cap and no stains to be found.
Clearly, this Pontiac has received plenty of shelter over the
years. The instrument cluster features a collection of clear,
functional gauges and there's no sign of sun-related fading
anywhere you look. Comfort and convenience features include air
conditioning, power seats, windows, door locks and mirrors, a tilt
column, and a defogger that will keep the convertible top's glass
window nice and clear. An AM/FM/CD stereo stands by above the
center console to offer a variety of audio options.
Raise that distinctive-looking hood and you'll find a fuel-injected
5.7-liter LS1 V8 at the center of a very clean compartment. This is
a potent engine - good for about 320 horsepower - and being another
beneficiary of light usage, as it pairs with a 4-speed automatic
4L60E transmission. With a stainless steel catback exhaust and
MagnaFlow muffler now in place, the engine runs more efficiently
than ever, and you'll hear a great, deep note when you tap on the
accelerator. By virtue of this Trans Am's special edition, WS6
status, it's equipped with a number of upgraded components that
substantially boost its handling abilities, including firmer
shocks, springs, and beefier sway bars in both front and back. This
unusually clean convertible rolls on a set of showroom fresh 17"
Pontiac wheels that wear Goodyear tires with plenty of tread still
left on them.
An open-air Trans Am is one very appealing ride on its own merits
and with its unusually clean condition and low mileage pairing with
special edition status, this 2001 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS6
convertible takes that desirability to a whole new level. Call
