Description:
This 1973 Volkswagen Type 2 is a Brazilian-market example that
underwent a 23-window conversion and had a retractable beige cloth
sunroof installed in 2018. The bus has been refinished in yellow
and white over gray and white vinyl upholstery and is powered by a
replacement 1.5L flat-four linked to a four-speed manual transaxle.
Equipment includes a roof rack, a ladder, a pop-out windshield,
skylight windows, a digital radio with Bluetooth, and 14? steel
wheels.
Interior:
The seats have been reupholstered in gray and white vinyl, and
matching upholstery extends to the door panels. Lap belts have been
added, and a digital radio with Bluetooth is fitted in the dash.
The two-spoke steering wheel features a Wolfsburg logo horn button
and sits ahead of a VDO 120-km/h speedometer and a fuel-level
gauge. The odometer shows 63 kilometers, and total chassis mileage
is unknown.
Exterior:
The bus was modified with a sunroof and additional windows before
being repainted in yellow and white in 2018. Additional equipment
includes a roof rack with wood slats, a ladder, outward-opening
dual windshield panes, white-finished bumpers with overriders, and
pop-out side windows. Photos from the build process are provided in
the gallery.
Drivetrain:
The replacement 1,500cc flat-four is equipped with a single
carburetor and was installed under prior ownership. The belt pulley
was replaced and the fluids were changed. Power is sent to the rear
wheels via a four-speed manual transaxle. The 14? steel wheels wear
chrome VW-branded hubcaps and trim rings, and they are mounted with
Bridgestone tires. Braking is handled by drums at each corner.
