Here is a very nice 1962 Starfire convertible, one of only 7149 made. This was Oldsmobile’s top of the line with its distinct aluminum side trim, chrome moldings and unique emblems. Everything on this car screamed space: The name, the star emblems, the side trim with chrome decor reminding of rocket details, and the outrageously deep steering wheel. Being the more luxurious bigger brother to Chevy’s Impala SS, it came with a middle console containing a floor shifter, tachometer, bucket seats with driver side being powered, power top, power antenna and power windows. On the mechanical side it was catapulted by a very strong 394 Ultra High Compression V8 followed by the trusted Hydramatic also used in Cadillacs, power brakes and power steering.
This California car had a cosmetic restoration a few years ago with new paint in a mesmerizing Indigo Blue Metallic, new white convertible top, new upholstered front vinyl seats that match the original rear leather seats, and a new carpet. The top boot is the original in decent shape for being from 1962. Whitewall tires are new and mounted on Baby Moon wheels and original hubcaps are included.
We had the original 394 V8 rebuilt with only a few miles on it at a cost of over $5000. This car is a locomotion that just wants to fly! Here you have a wonderful classic open top car that you can turn on the key in, and go cruising by the beach, or take your whole family for ice cream, or just by yourself with the wind blowing in your hair.
