1982 Pontiac Trans Am with Knight Rider KITT Conversion
This 1982 Pontiac Trans Am is a beauty! The car has the Knight Rider KITT conversion designed to match the cars used in Season 1 of the show, including custom scanner, tail lights, and dash board. Car has been garage-kept and the exterior is in excellent condition. All of the upholstery has been replaced to match the KITT conversion. The interior includes the custom dash board and gull wing steering wheel, just like the show! This car attracts an obscene amount of attention and has won car shows. It is an actual 1982 model to match the model used in the show, not a later model retrofitted to look like an ’82.

The car is sold “AS-IS”, meaning that there is no warranty for any defects and that the buyer is responsible for all repairs. Also, the buyer is responsible to arrange for transporting the vehicle after purchase.
I believe in disclosing all known issues to the buyer. Known issues include:
- The v-8 engine just recently started having trouble and requires repairs to return to working order. Currently, the car will crank but will not stay running for more than a few seconds after it returns to an idle. Repairs required to return it to full working order are unknown.
- Motors on each door’s automatic windows need to be replaced. The windows are currently partially rolled down to allow for airflow.
- The front speakers have a short that prevents them from working. Most likely needs rewiring to fix. The KITT voice box is linked to the front speakers, so it is not operational unless the speaker issue is resolved. Once the issue is fixed, the dash includes the KITT voice box and syncs to sounds playing from front speakers. When working, you can play audio from various Knight Rider apps to make KITT talk.
- Car has been in garage storage and requires new battery if it is to be driven.
- The two replica monitors in the dashboard are untested.
- The fuel gauge accuracy in the custom dash is unknown and has not been tested.
- It is difficult to remove the key as the ignition switch is just below the custom dash.
- I’ve driven the car on a limited basis rather than use it as an every-day driver to keep the exterior in pristine condition.
I’ve seen limited KITT replicas for sale over the years, but have seen them go as high as $60,000+. Therefore, I’ve adjusted the purchase price accordingly to take into account the engine issues.
