Vehicle Description
While Chevrolet may have stolen the show with it's bold and
somewhat brash 57' Bel Air, other divisions inside General Motors
were making gorgeous automobiles of a more discreet variety. The
1957 models from Oldsmobile were longer, wider, and lower with
discreet fins and ornamentation. The rear window was a unique
three-piece design and wrapped around almost as far as the front
windshield, producing a very unique side profile and roofline. The
1957 Oldsmobile Supper 88 Holiday Coupe on offer here is finished
in beautiful two-tone bronze and beige with the one year only
accent stripe. The color combination along with the flowing side
trim and rear wheel covers produce an appearance of movement even
when it's standing still. While it may be a large car in overall
size, the low profile and long wheelbase lend a lithe and sporty
air. Wide whitewalls and chrome plated deluxe wheel covers are
perfectly fitting of a sporty 50's Oldsmobile. The looks aren't
deceiving however, because under the hood of this Oldsmobile is the
rare T-400 J2 371 cubic inch V-8 with triple Rochestor two-barrel
carburetion. This trick set up was an $83 option is 57' and bumped
horsepower from the base 277hp to a nice round 300hp in J2 trim,
more than even Chevrolet's hot 283ci/283hp fuel injected engine in
the Bel Air and Corvette. This Oldsmobile was an iron fist in a
silk glove given the long list of luxuries that came along with the
horsepower. Power brakes, power steering, automatic transmission,
factory air conditioning (one of the strongest blowing units ever),
two stage heater, Deluxe AM radio, two-tone vinyl and cloth bench
seats, it's all here. This Oldsmobile simply glides down the road
like its riding on a cloud. People passing by stop and stare as
they have never laid eyes on a 57' Oldsmobile and it's rear window
is the conversation piece. Stop at a gas station and you'll have to
stop and talk for at least 15 minutes before you can get back on
the road. This Super 88 is really super! It is in incredible
condition and starts with just a twist of the switch. If only all
classic cars could be this easy to own and drive. One thing is for
sure, you won't see another one soon, so hurry and contact Brian at
