1964 Ford Thunderbird Convertible –
Owned by one family for over fifty years until 2019. This is an amazing example of this renowned convertible which underwent a complete frame off/rotisserie and full mechanical restoration during 2004 and 2005. I purchased the car in December of 2020 from Delray Motors in Vero Beach Florida. Since the restoration the car has been pampered and garage kept. The paint finish presents as though it just came out of the booth. There are no scratches, no swirl marks or other imperfections in the paint of note. There is zero rust, not even surface rust, above or below. The car was painted its original color of Wimbledon White and retains a deep mirror like finish. The many pictures taken of the car during restoration show the thoroughness of the work. The current photography, posted in this listing, looks as though the restoration project was just completed. I have many more photos that can be shared. This is an outstanding example of the car. As I have looked at mid sixties T-Birds currently on the market, I've not found one yet that is as clean as this one. The seats are as though they haven't been sat on. It draws attention, and awe, from all those who know and appreciate classic cars. It would be difficult to find a better example of this classic 1964 T-Bird. I’ve only put about a thousand miles on the car. I drive it occasionally during the nice weather months and never in the rain. During my ownership it has been stored in a climate controlled garage, kept on a Battery Tenda and started every month or so, moving it a bit so as to avoid developing flat spots in the new tires. The Hancook Optimo tires were just installed prior to my purchase so are in as new condition having about 1,000 miles on them. Although I purchased wire rims for the car, I have the original rims which will be included in the sale. The convertible top is also in outstanding condition. The original dealer invoice from Paul Miller Ford in Lexington Kentucky, is in hand. Since my purchase in 2020 I have invested over $8,000.00 in upgrades and documented work. Much of the work was completed by one of the most recognized classic T-Bird mechanics in New England. The rear driver’s side power window operates slowly, even with a new drive motor. It does fully open and close. The engine will leak a very small amount of oil when sitting. I’m told the leak is from the rear main seal. To put this issue into perspective, over the winter months the leak would cover about a 3” diameter area. NOTE: In the photos, you may notice that the tonneau cover is not firmly seated to the car. This is because it has yet to be installed. I simply laid it on top of the car for photography purposes. The cover and the hardware mounting kit that came with the cover is included in the sale. All components/accessories work as they should. The top opens and closes flawlessly. Many new components/relays are incorporated into the system, retaining its operating originality.
Some of the work completed since 2019 includes:
