The third generation of Barracudas was produced by Plymouth between
1970 and 1974. This was a notable span of years for the car as they
were no longer based on the Valiant platform and now had its own
exclusive Chrysler E body that it only shared with the Dodge
Challenger. These cars are iconic in the mopar world and despite
their popularity you really don't see many of them out on the road.
That makes this very cool 1972 a great potential classic for
someone into muscle cars that also wants something that will stand
out from the crowd of Camaros and Mustangs. The car is set up to be
a nice driver and is very solid. The current owner has had the car
for 2 years and it was in the previous owners possession for 22
years. The odometer reads 39,150 miles that are believed to be
original. The body is coated in a deep Crimson Red color that has a
nice finish. It has the blacked out rear panel with the dual circle
taillights and 'Cuda badging. The glass is all good throughout as
are the stainless and chrome accents. The car rides on very cool
old school custom wheels that suit the car nicely.
Turning the tires is a 408 ci stroker motor which is a stroked out
360. It was all professionally built and the car comes with a 2
inch stack of receipts for all the work that has been done to it
over time. The motor has been fitted with a Holley 650 cfm
carburetor, Edelbrock air gap aluminum intake, aluminum heads,
aftermarket headers, high output alternator, MSD ignition, deep
sump oil pan, cool flex hoses, billet pulleys and a nice chrome air
cleaner. It runs nice and cool with an aftermarket aluminum
radiator with dual electric fans and a shroud. Paired with the
motor is a 4 speed manual and its original rear end. The engine
runs very strong and puts out around 460hp to the rear wheels. The
car also has all power options with both power steering and power
brakes with discs up front. Another nice added security feature is
a power disconnect switch plus an ignition security override
system.
Inside the car it has a nice White interior with dual high back
front bucket seats. The upholstery is in good condition and the
carpeting, seat belts, and dash are all done in Black. The pistol
grip shifter is mounted to the floor and moves through the gears
smoothly. The dash has a stock style layout with the correct
original gauges, including a tachometer, and the faux woodgrain
trim pieces. The floors and trunk of the car are all solid and the
battery has been relocated into the trunk in an added tray.
This is one cool classic that will make someone a great show car
that is also going to be really fun to cruise around in. Mopars
have proven to be very desirable in the market so check it out
while it is still available.
