The 1936 Ford was said to have brought Ford in to the modern era of
motoring. I could not agree more considering I think the 36' Ford
Cabriolet is one gorgeous automobile. Classic styling, swoopy
fenders, "fully enclosed" interior, rumble seat and flat head Ford
V8 done in the very classic blue over tan. Now what I think is even
a better story is the fact that this particular car comes out of
the Estate of renowned GM automotive engineer William "Bill"
Collins. You may have heard of him, as he was one of a few men
responsible for putting the GTO in to GM's lineup along side John
Delorean and quite arguably the very first of the Muscle Cars. He
would continue on to work and develop projects for GM through the
1970's until Delorean lured him away to work on the radical DMC12
project. After that, a little less known story is that Bill went
out and founded Vixen....Yes, Vixen, a motor home that could fit in
a standard garage with excellent aerodynamics, effective space
utilization and efficiency utilizing a turbo diesel engine set up
from BMW. If you have never seen one, you should check them out.
After the Vixen did not take off as hoped, he went back and
consulted for Pontiac until retiring in 1992. There is no doubt
that he will hold a special place in automotive history. That being
said this was the last car to be sold from his collection and we
are very pleased to present. First of all, the mechanicals on this
car are tremendous, it starts perfectly, runs great and drives down
the road very nicely. The body is in great condition, the paint is
in good condition as it has a couple paint chips, but still shines
very nicely. This car boils down to a fantastic driver quality car
that has had excellent care and storage throughout his ownership. I
have personally driven the car and it sure is a delight. The top is
older but still functions well and does its job. In addition, the
Ford starts very easily, idles almost instantly, has no funky
quirks, does not smoke or leak and is ready to be enjoyed. Please
let us know if you have any further questions.
