We purchased this beautiful car in 2004 with almost everything original, including the windshield with the last inspection sticker dated 1966, becoming the 3rd owners. We added a few parts/features:
The previous owner updated the upholstery and had the carburetor rebuilt and minor engine work. The transmission has NEVER BEEN TOUCHED! She shifts like a dream. My father told me Powerflite and Torqueflite transmissions were the best and never to mess with them.
During a car show in 2009, sitting with a full tank of gas in the sun, the gas leaked out and damaged the paint on the rear driver quarter panel. The panel was painted and there is a slight line where paint didn’t blend in. The front lower valance has a slight ding where I got too close to a parking curb.
She is a driver, not a show piece and always turns heads. She even turned more heads than my father’s custom red 1957 Belvedere (LOL) that he recreated with what he called “The Best of Exner”. Virgil Exner was the designer in 1957 for Plymouth/Chrysler Corp. Wikipedia: The 1957 Plymouths were advertised with the slogan, "Suddenly, it's 1960!" In June of that year, Exner and his team were awarded a Gold Medal Award by the Industrial Designers Institute (IDI).
Sadly, it is time to say goodbye to my Sweetie after almost 20 years. She is beautiful with a great history, she's unique and she could be yours.
