The Capri model started as a Ford where it was produced in
Australia first as a way to compete with the then-popular Mazda
MX-5. This model was then moved to the American market in 1991 but
went under the Mercury name. Not many things changed from year to
year as far as the design until 1994 but with it being in the
States now, the necessity of air bags was added as well. The base
model came with the 1.6L engine rated at 100hp and a 4-speed
automatic as to the upgraded XR-4 model gave you a massive boost in
power with the added turbocharger version of the same engine and a
5-speed manual pushing this model to 132hp.
