Vehicle Description
This 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible is a beautifully restored,
southern pony car with a fantastic story! In the early 1960s, there
was a gap in the American automotive market; there were no "cool"
compact cars coming out of Detroit. However, on April 17, 1964,
that all changed when Ford introduced the Mustang at the New York
World's Fair. Lee Iacocca's initial vision for the Mustang was a
sporty, youth oriented car with a long hood, short deck, and a
modest price tag. That vision ultimately snowballed into one of the
most successful Ford vehicles of all time and launched an entire
new genre of muscle cars known as "Pony Cars." The 1965 version of
the Mustang featured just a few changes from the 1964-1/2 versions,
though most notably was a change from a generator to an alternator
setup, and the base engine was upgraded from 170 cubic inches to
200 cubic inches of displacement. This particular Mustang
Convertible has a very interesting story in that it was ordered by
a foreign government official working here in the United States for
export, but the car never ended up being exported. The car
eventually changed hands a number of times over the years having
spent some if its recent years in North Carolina, Tennessee, and
Georgia. Powering this '65 Mustang is a 200 Cubic Inch Inline 6
Cylinder Engine fed by a single barrel carburetor that was said to
have pushed out 120 horsepower when new. The OHV Straight 6 is
backed by a C-4 Automatic Transmission that makes this little
Mustang a fantastic car for anybody to drive. This 1965 Mustang
comes loaded with options! With power steering, squeezing this
little pony into tight spaces at the local drive-in or car show is
breeze and the overall driving experience is much improved. Power
brakes is also a welcome addition and the single master cylinder
was upgraded to a dual master setup for more reliable stopping as
well. The white vinyl power convertible top is in excellent
condition and it goes up and down with the simple push of a button.
Riding on a set of whitewall radial tires paired with wire wheel
covers, this 1965 Mustang has a great look and even better ride.
The exterior has been correctly refinished in a beautiful Caspian
Blue paint that completes the exterior look of the car. The
interior of this Mustang Convertible is absolutely stunning! The
front bucket seats and rear bench have been reupholstered in a
beautiful red vinyl, just how this pony car came off the Dearborn
factory floor back in 1965. The red carpeting, matching red
upholstered door panels, padded dash, and steering wheel are all in
fantastic condition and appear to be in their stock configuration.
The instrument cluster is equipped with a 120 MPH speedometer,
temperature gauge, and fuel gauge. This Mustang is also equipped
with an upgraded Retro Sound Motor 2 AM/FM/USB/Bluetooth
entertainment system so that you can listen to all of your tunes
while cruising down the road. Whether you're adding to your Blue
Oval stable or you're buying your very first classic car, this 1965
Ford Mustang Convertible would make an excellent choice. Give
