Let’s go back to a time when roads held more stories than destinations. Or, frankly, the time where we just let the wind guide us and hoped we were not going around in the same circles like a record on repeat.
The time when Wilbur Adams Gunn (1859-1920), made his way to the UK. While the world was dominated by horses and carriages, he was already busy shaping the future – the birth of a legendary brand was his masterpiece in the making. Indeed, it was Gunn who laid the foundations for the Lagonda Motor Company, later known as Lagonda Ltd from 1913.
However, that is not yet the complete story. During the period from 1935 to 1940, another impressive name came on board: W.O. Bentley, a name that in itself is a masterpiece in the automotive world. Together, these titans shaped Lagonda Ltd into a true legend in automotive history.
Let us now concentrate on the real star of the show: the LG 45 Rapide, a masterpiece designed by Frank Feeley. This showpiece, unveiled at the end of 1936, was considered the fastest sports car on the road. It was a showdown with the designs of Alfa Romeo and Bugatti, and Lagonda emerged victorious. Feeley’s design has stood the test of time, and even today it exudes craftsmanship and genius, even after more than 80 years.
The jewel of our range? Underwent a true metamorphosis in 2011, fully restored from every nut to every bolt, without saving a penny to bring her to absolute top condition. The engine?
