this car.
Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this absolutely
spectacular 1955 Jaguar XK140 Fixed-head Coupe. This XK140 was
treated to an extremely high-quality restoration of the paint,
chrome, and interior. The car has a stunning British Racing Green
paintjob, brilliantly refinished chrome, and a beautiful cinnamon
tan interior. It looks beautiful, runs great, and is a pleasure to
drive.
We have checked the numbers on this car. The stamping on the right
side of the engine block reads "G 3006-8S." The stamping on the top
center of the cylinder head is "G-8660-8." The body number is "J
4223," the J is correct for a Fixed-head Coupe. The chassis number,
"814149," is stamped on the right frame rail.
This is an excellent opportunity to own a very rare and highly
desirable classic Jaguar. The market on Jaguar XK's is very hot
right now, especially for premium examples like this car. One could
easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase
price in years to come. There is no way someone could purchase a
similar Jaguar and restore it to this level of quality for anything
near our asking price. Please peruse all of the photos, video, and
other information below to get a true sense of how exceptionally
nice this Jaguar really is.
As a side note, this XK140 is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand
pick each car after careful inspection. Our Classics come from
owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the
vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and
encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car
inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We
photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel
confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the
Jaguar, just give us a call.
Exterior
The British Racing Green exterior is in beautiful condition. As one
can see in the photos the finish has dazzling gloss, deep shine,
and smooth finish. The body colored wire wheels and spinners are in
excellent condition with a great finish and no curb rash. The
Firestone Gum-Dipped blackwall tires are sized 6.00-16 and have
been used very sparingly and still have the nubs on them. The
chrome looks amazing with a bright and brilliant finish. There are
no major blemishes that have been intentionally excluded from the
photos.
Interior
The tan interior of the Jaguar looks utterly splendid. The quality
of the workmanship and materials is top-notch. The seats are in
excellent condition with no split seams, rips, or hardly any wear
at all. The carpet is also in great condition with no stains, rips,
or holes. The interior chrome and bright work are in wonderful
shape with a superb finish. The dash is in terrific condition with
no cracks, fading, or sun damage. The gauge faces are crisp and
clean, there is one small crack in the lens for the speedometer.
The wood trim looks nice, but does show some age. The door panels
look excellent. The headliner is not stained or sagging. This car
has not been smoked in; there are obviously no burn marks or aroma
of cigarettes what-so-ever.
The trunk is very clean, highly detailed, and well-trimmed with a
matching full size spare Firestone tire and matching body colored
wire wheel rim.
Mechanical
This Jaguar XK140 seems to be in good mechanical condition. The
inline six engine starts every time, runs well, and idles smooth.
The car drives nicely on the road and at highway speeds. In the
video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up
to about 70mph, braking to a stoplight, and going through some
curves. Please note that there are no vibrations and the car
performs quite well overall. The brakes are responsive and do not
pull to one side or the other. The transmission shifts okay when
you take your time with the shifts, the shifter is tight, and does
not pop out of gear. The clutch feels good.
The wipers work as do the headlights, running lights, taillights,
turn signals, turn signal indicator on the dash, speedometer,
tachometer, odometer, oil pressure gauge, and coolant temp gauge.
There are some items that do not work such as the clock, horn,
tachometer, some exterior lights, and we are not sure of the gas
gauge works. The transmission shifts smoothly when shifting slowly,
but will grind if you shift too quickly. The horn, clock, amp
gauge, and blower for the heater do not work. Also, the engine
compartment is beautifully clean, detailed, and correct as one can
see in the photos. Not enough can be said as to how much of a
pleasure it is to drive this Jaguar.
Overall Condition
Overall, this 1955 Jaguar XK140 Fixed-head Coupe is in marvelous
condition. This is truly an investment grade classic. As stated
above, there is absolutely no way someone could restore a Jaguar to
anywhere near this level for any amount near our asking price.
The excellent restoration, the great attention to detail, and the
beautiful color combination make this car especially important and
difficult to duplicate. This Jaguar always gets a ton of attention
driving down the road. It is very apparent that the vehicle has
been well taken care of by its previous owners. One could easily
enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the
purchase price with minimal effort.
Thank you for looking and please email or call with any
