1968 Model Year Toyota FJ: The Toyota FJ40 is a four-wheel-drive,
off-road vehicle produced by Toyota from 1960 to 1984. The FJ40 is
a model of the Land Cruiser series of vehicles, which are renowned
for their durability and off-road capabilities. In 1968, the Toyota
FJ40 was in its eighth year of production, and it received several
updates that year. One of the most significant updates was the
addition of a 3.9-liter inline-six engine, which produced 125
horsepower and 209 lb-ft of torque. This engine replaced the
previous 3.8-liter inline-six, and it was coupled with a
three-speed manual transmission. Other updates for the 1968 model
year included a new instrument panel and a redesigned grille, as
well as minor changes to the interior and exterior. The FJ40 also
featured a rugged, body-on-frame construction and a part-time
four-wheel-drive system, which made it well-suited for off-road
use. The FJ40 has since become a classic off-road vehicle and is
highly sought after by collectors and off-road enthusiasts. Its
durability, reliability, and simple mechanical design have made it
a favorite among those who enjoy exploring rugged terrain.
