Stock Number: 1905 - 1980 marked a evolutionary step in performance
and engineering for the 2nd Gen Trans AM and the Pontiac V8. It was
the first year for the New Turbo Charged V8. It is a perfect
example of a rare collectible that will stand the test of time as a
sound investment. This unit has very low miles on a full rotisserie
nut and bolt restoration. No expense was spared. Literally every
nut and bolt was restored on this Trans AM. Every mechanical
systems is New or Rebuilt. Now you have a chance to make this
beautiful car your own.
This TA is one of only 3,444 Turbo SE's built in 1980. With 107,340
Firebird's built that year, that translates to only 3.5% being
built in this configuration. That is a low production number in
anyone's book. The 210hp rating nearly matched the '79 400 at
220hp. This specific engine was Dyno tuned to 225hp and 337ftlbs of
torque. Solid numbers compared to the competition of the day. The
Z28 was only 190hp and the Mustang GT was only 120hp on the V8 and
135hp on the Turbo 4cyl. So Pontiac really was one of the best
options you could buy that year. It was deemed significant enough
that it was selected to Pace the Indianapolis 500 that year. The
desirable features like Fisher T-Tops, 4 Wheel Disc Brakes, WS6
Handling Package, Air Conditioning and all the Power Options
available made this a Loaded out Trans AM. The Bold Turbo-Charged
decals told the world this car was something different. Take the
T-Tops off, enjoy the Sun and Cruise the Coast. It does not get any
better than this.
