This 1990 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 has been very well maintained and
is in beautiful condition overall. Dubbed as the The King of the
Hill and described by Car and Driver as The Corvette from Hell, you
can be assured the ZR-1s are something special to behold. Capable
of 0-60 mph in a little over 4 seconds and a top speed of 175 mph,
this limited production run (3,049 for 1990) and low mileage
(34,868) ZR-1 is ready to be enjoyed while showing and touring. The
ZR-1s are hand-built and one of the fastest production cars ever
made. They are the original American made Super Car. The base
Corvette could be purchased for $31,979. The ZR-1 package alone
added an additional $27,015 due to the cost of the hand-built
engine and the significant body changes. The ZR-1 proceeded to set
a series of land speed and endurance records covering 5,000 miles
at an average speed of 173.29 mph and running for 24 hours at an
average speed of 173.29. This ZR-1 was acquired through MGM Classic
Cars on 5/12/2020 by Hank Johnson of Phoenix, AZ. Mr. Johnson has
maintained and serviced the Corvette very well during his ownership
and has enjoyed and shown the ZR-1 numerous times. The livery is
Dark Red Metallic with beautiful luster and shine. The paint shows
very well overall with very few minor imperfections that are nearly
unnoticeable and only visible upon very close inspection. The ZR-1
body is unique from the base Corvette in that the body work widens
beginning at the leading edge of the doors and culminates in a tail
that is 3 broader with a convex rear facia complete with
square-lensed taillamps. The ZR-1 moniker is located on the lower
right of the facia and will be visible to other drivers as you zoom
past them. This additional rear width accommodates the Good Year
Eagle P315/35ZR-17 Gatorback tires made specifically for the ZR-1.
The cast aluminum saw blade wheels are in very nice condition, as
is the optional removable roof panel. The ZR-1s exterior is in
beautiful overall condition and shows very well. The interior is
finished in black leather upholstered sport seats that show little
wear and are in nice overall condition. The 6-way passenger and
driver sport seats adjustable sport seats can be adjusted to an
almost limitless number of driving positions. Even the seat wings
and lumbar supports are power controlled. The dash shows well, and
the instruments all function as designed. The black carpet is in
nice condition, showing minimal wear. The interior is in nice
condition reflecting the low mileage and care taken with this ZR-1.
The venerable ZR-1 aluminum block engine is a 5.7-liter, 32-valve
V-8 LT5 with double overhead cams and 4-valves per cylinder. The
engines were designed by GM's Lotus Division and further developed
by GM. They were built under contract by Mercury Marine in
Oklahoma. The 5.7-liter V-8 produced 380 hp at 6,200 rpm with 370
pound-feet of torque at 4,200 rpm. The power is transferred to the
rear wheels through a fully synchronized 6-speed manual
transmission. There is a power control dial located on the lower
dash which can be set to Normal or Full. Car and Driver described
the engines performance as otherworldly. We agree! This ZR-1 is
very well optioned and includes AC, the Selective Ride and Handling
Package, Low Tire Pressure Warning, Delco Bose Gold Series music
system with CD and Cassette player, solar glass and removable roof
panel. Also included are the owners manual and several repair and
maintenance receipts. This ZR-1 is a beautiful, low mileage,
collectable example that would be a perfect addition to any
Corvette collection. For more information and details, please call
