For Sale: 1940 Ford 1/2 Ton Pickup in Rome, Georgia

Vehicle Description

New price 9-7-23 $15,200

My friend  passed away rather suddenly in early April 2011 after making some significant progress on this truck. I have had the unfinished project for about 10 years and I have done very little to finish it. It needs to be finished but I’m out of time and resources so I’m putting it on the market. It’s in a storage unit at the moment along with a trove of parts. Location – Rome GA.  Info from the service record on the door post (see photo) indicates it was serviced once in 1967 in Payette Idaho, which explains the condition of the body.

A complete  Mustang GT drive train (low mileage damaged by fallen tree) , from the 4.6 L 3 valve SOHC engine to the rear end and suspension is under it, all attached to a Total Cost Involved custom chassis with stainless steel option. All fabrication work was professionally done. Aside from some surface rust from being in storage, its a rust free truck all around . Straight running boards, solid body, fenders, and bed. The chassis was never coated so it has surface rust too.

The engine, transmission and rear end are all installed by a professional fabricator.  The exhaust system is complete. The fuel tank is installed but no fuel lines have been run. The fuel pump in included but not installed in the tank.

The  radiator (new)  is installed. The Heat/AC equipment in installed but no electrical/control or freon lines installed.

The prefabricated stainless steel brake lines with aero-quip fittings  ( I believe they are all here, they came with the chassis) are not installed. The Wildwood brake system for the front are here (came mounted on the chassis). The brake system for the back is already part of the Mustang rear end. Master cylinder is part of the new Wildwood system which came with the chassis. The steering system is installed and operable.

4 New Wheels (Stockton Wheel) , Vintage Ford Center Caps and trim rings are here, wheels still in boxes, no tires ever mounted. No tires included.

Engine: Although I have the original wiring harness from the donor Mustang, most everybody familiar with this type of Ford build  seems to lean toward a new harness which is readily available from a number of sources.  The plan was that the battery, computer, fuse block, and other system  components would be installed  under the seat because the engine bay is STUFFED with the engine. The original computer from the Mustang  is here, just needs the anti theft unprogrammed.  The Classic Instruments gauge cluster is installed in the dash but not connected.

General wiring for lights, battery, etc. is not installed.

Can’t say for sure but I think 95%, if not ALL the parts to complete this truck are here. Including the Glide Engineering seat and  Newport Engineering wipers, and the body  trim. The steel grille has been rebuilt and all the trim for it is here, It can be chromed or painted, builders choice.

Attached is a list of all the parts previously purchased in 2008 to 2010. The list does not include the purchase of the low mileage Mustang damaged (totaled) by a fallen tree in an ice storm. VIN Number 1ZVFT82H875299914. I have copies of invoices for everything on the list. Vintage Air Mini Gen II is also installed but never commissioned.

I’m attaching as many photos I think best portray the condition of the truck and the many parts that have been accumulated but never installed.

The price for the entire package is $15,200 cash, no trades and no checks.  Buyer comes to get it. It is a package deal, so please don’t ask about individual parts for sale. GA does not recognize titles that old so this is bill of sale only. It can be seen by appointment.
