Description:
This 1970 Buick Skylark was refinished in yellow over two-tone gray
cloth as part of a refurbishment completed under prior ownership.
The replacement Chevrolet 468ci V8 is mated to a three-speed TH400
automatic transmission and a host of bolt-ons. Additional features
include 15? Weld alloy wheels, Mickey Thompson tires, four-wheel
disc brakes, power steering, chrome bumpers, quad headlights, front
bucket seats, AutoMeter Phantom gauges, a Grant steering wheel, a
B&M shifter, and a Pioneer stereo receiver.
Interior:
The interior features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed
in two-tone gray cloth and joined by a color-coordinated headliner
and door panels. Appointments include a B&M Pro Stick shifter,
three-point seat belts for the front occupants, bright door sill
protectors, billet-aluminum window crank handles, and a Pioneer
stereo receiver wired to speakers mounted in the kick panels and on
the rear parcel shelf. The four-spoke Grant steering wheel fronts
white-dialed AutoMeter Phantom instrumentation including a 160-mph
speedometer, a 10k-rpm tachometer, and a coolant temperature gauge.
Additional AutoMeter gauges mounted above the glovebox display fuel
level, oil pressure, and voltage.
Exterior:
The body was refinished in its current shade of yellow using PPG
paint and features chrome bumpers in addition to bright trim and
wheel arch moldings. Equipment includes a driver-side mirror,
Skylark Custom badging, and a dual exhaust system with an X-pipe
and Pypes mufflers.
Drivetrain:
The replacement 468ci big-block V8 features a 12.5:1 compression
ratio and is equipped with the following:
-Forged crankshaft
-Aluminum pistons
-Crane camshaft/lifters/rocker arms
-Dart Pro 1 aluminum cylinder heads and intake manifold
-Holley Demon 850-cfm four-barrel carburetor
-MSD ignition system
-March accessory drive pulleys
-NGK spark plugs
-Hooker exhaust headers
-Griffin aluminum radiator with electric cooling fans
-Merlin valve covers
Power is sent to the rear wheels through three-speed TH400
automatic transmission equipped with a Coin Racing 3,000-rpm stall
convertor. Additional underside images are provided in the gallery.
Weld 15? five-spoke alloy wheels wear Mickey Thompson Sportsman
tires measuring 26�8? up front and 28�12? out back. Equipment
includes front and rear sway bars, power steering, and
power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes.
