come of driving age in the 80s, chances are good you longed for a
Fox Body Mustang. These Mustangs were built from 1979-1993 and were
part of Ford's Better Idea to have a unibody system that could
provide the base for a number of cars produced by the Blue Oval
folks. These cars had a stiffer structure than the traditional body
on chassis cars due to the unibody construction and shared many
parts with several vehicles such as Zephyrs, Thunderbirds,
Fairmonts, Granadas, and the mid-sized wagons to name a few, and of
course the face of the platform, the Mustang. These are prevalent
cars that are popular with restorers and resto-mod fans and the
aftermarket is rich with parts to further enhance these cars.
Featured here is a perfect example of the potential of these
Fox-Body Mustangs. This car has been nicely restored with some
additional performance upgrades that make this stock-appearing
Mustang a real wolf in sheep's clothing! The 1992 Ford Mustang LX
5.0 featured here has been professionally refinished in the factory
hue Calypso Green Metallic. The repaint was very thorough,
including removing and replacing all the weather stripping and
window felts. The white convertible top was replaced and
professionally installed. The headlights have been replaced with
LMR 3-piece headlight assemblies with LED along with LMR rear LED
taillight assemblies. The body trim has either been refurbished or
replaced giving this Mustang a near showroom presentation. Inside
the cabin, the white interior features new door and rear panels and
new carpet with fitted carpet floor mats. The leather seat
upholstery is original and has been well-maintained. There is some
light creasing in the seat material however, it is very soft and
pliable. This Mustang features power windows, power door locks,
power remote door mirrors, a power top, and air conditioning. The
leather-wrapped steering wheel features hand controls for the
factory sound system with AM/FM and tape players and a graphic
equalizer. The dash features factory gauges including the 140 MPH
speedometer with a voltmeter, coolant temperature, and oil pressure
to monitor the engine vitals. The trunk space is clean, and the
factory felt liner is still in place and in well-preserved
condition. Underneath the trunk floor is clean and solid, free of
any rust. The factory spare and related tire change tools and jack
are also in the factory-designated place. Under the hood sits a
stock 5.0 V8 that has been well-maintained and cared for, with a
recent tune-up, including all new sensors, a 3G Alternator, and a
new fuel pump with sending unit have been installed. A BBK fresh
air intake was installed, and the ignition coil was updated to an
MSD unit. This hot setup is kept cool by an SVE aluminum radiator.
The entire drivetrain: engine, transmission, and differential, has
had all the fluids changed to Royal Purple synthetic lubricants.
Power is transferred through a 5-speed manual transmission to the
factory differential.
