Vehicle Description
The utility of a pickup, the driving ease of a car and plenty of
classic appeal to boot! To say that this 1986 Chevrolet El Camino
has aged gracefully would be an understatement - and with a few
skillfully executed refurbishments made both inside and out, it has
a fresh, vital appearance to go along with its rock-solid driving
condition.
As an '86, this Chevy represents the final generation of its model,
and you can see America's growing infatuation with geometrically
inspired designs in its front grille and rectangular headlights.
It's a distinctive ride - you didn't see many cars on the road that
looked anything like the El Camino during the two decades-plus it
was released and, with so many examples of the model falling by the
wayside over the years, you see far fewer now. Its exterior has
been revitalized in Navy blue and, while repaints can be a mixed
bag, this one presents well. You'd be hard-pressed to find any
issues at all when you circle the car, and while doing so, you're
likely to notice just how well-aligned it is - a welcome sight on a
car that's more than 35 years old. It has had the good fortune to
have avoided any accidents of note during its lifetime ... and it
shows. Its fresh color, along with clean brightwork and even gaps
between its panels, contributes to a sharp stock appearance - you
can imagine anyone who had been on the assembly line while it was
produced would give it a hearty thumbs-up if they saw it now.
Take a peek inside the doors and you'll see that the interior has
received attention, as well, and it was performed just as
skillfully. The custom tan vinyl upholstery looks great, with
styling that doesn't stray too far from a stock aesthetic - the
shop that took on this work really did a good job. Throughout the
cabin you'll notice surprisingly little wear for a car of this age
- the dash pad doesn't show any warping and the instrument panel
below still harbors a group of clear, easy to read gauges. Look to
the right of the gauge cluster and you'll see that an
AM/FM/cassette stereo is on hand to provide a suitably vintage
audio experience while you take this beauty on the road. Additional
interior features include smooth power steering, cruise control,
power windows and door locks and a tilt column. The air
conditioning system on this '86 is completely intact but will need
a bit of attention before returning to action.
Raise the hood and you'll find a 305 cubic inch V8 sitting in the
middle of a very well-maintained engine bay, surrounded by fresh
hoses and wiring - another sign of the care this classic has
received over the years. This numbers-matching powerplant is fed by
a 4-barrel Quadrajet carb and pairs with a solidly shifting 3-speed
automatic transmission to offer you a great experience behind the
wheel. This car drives nicely - the engine fires right up and this
El Camino accelerates smoothly and tracks straight ahead. Power
brakes at both ends - with discs up front - provide dependable,
low-effort stops as this 1980s classic cruises on its set of 14"
stock wheels.
You just don't see many El Caminos on the road anymore and this
1986 Chevrolet El Camino's vital appearance and smooth-running
condition really set it apart from those that remain. Call
