Vehicle Description
Ever since aftermarket wizard Jack Roush began to work magic on
Mustangs nearly 30 years ago, his company name has garnered respect
for its well-engineered performance add-ons and eye-catching
aesthetic enhancements. Having logged a mere 14,500 miles - that's
only a little more than a year's worth of everyday driving - this
2008 Ford Mustang Roush 427R is the lucky beneficiary of that
special treatment. Looking pretty much as it did when it left the
Ford factory en route to its upgrading session, it's ready to turn
heads and bring a smile to a new owner's face.
Dressed in silver metallic paint that's accented with red stripes
down its scooped hood and across its lower doors, this 2008 is one
sharp-looking ride. Mustangs from this era already had plenty of
visual appeal on their own, and the assortment of special Roush
touches added to the exterior really up its visual game while
increasing functionality in the process. The 4-piece Aero body kit
includes a distinctive front fascia and chin spoiler, a hood scoop,
and a rear wing, and, if you direct your attention to the lower
front valance, you'll see a pair of high-powered fog lamps to light
the way ahead. The stance on this enhanced Mustang is just right -
a bit lower than what it left the factory with, but not so low as
to be impractical for everyday driving conditions.
Those eye-catching add-ons from the Roush treatment are on display
inside the doors. There's a pair of nice, supportive black leather
buckets up front whose red accents bear Roush's respected name
embroidered on the seat backs, and upgraded seat belts have been
added both fore and aft. The white-faced Roush gauges look great in
place of the originals, and they're set off by carbon fiber accents
on the dash area. A short throw, special edition Roush shifter is
perched on the center console to effortlessly put this pony through
its paces, while a Shaker 500 AM/FM stereo pairs with a CD changer
to provide plenty of audio options when you hit the road.
Holding court under the hood is a 4.6-liter V8 crowned with a Roush
supercharger to up its power game. It delivers in that regard,
offering 435 horsepower and 400 pound-feet torque. The powerplant
pairs with a 5-speed transmission to provide a hands-on driving
experience. At the same time, an upgraded 8.8 rear end with a 3.55
ratio - a differential so renowned for its dependability that it's
often added to boutique aftermarket cars - completes the
drivetrain. Step down on the billet accelerator to unleash that
power, and you'll hear a nice growl via the added Roush mufflers.
Sitting just inside the unique edition wheels are distinctive red
calipers that grip the slotted front and rear rotors to bring this
Mustang to a stop. This car runs and drives excellently, and its
handling is very much on point, courtesy of its Trak Pak suspension
that includes front and rear stabilizer bars, adjustable camber
plates, and various other boutique features that combine to make
for a top-tier corner carver.
