In 1937 the Packard 12 was truly a World Class Engine. In 2023 it
still is. There were two generations of Packard 12 Cylinder engines
- the Twin Six manufactured and sold from 1916-1923. It returned as
the second generation in 1933 initially as the Twin Six V12
virtually unchanged from the earlier engine. It was quickly renamed
the Packard 12 which aligned the name with the other model
designations in the line. In 1935 the displacement was increased to
473 CI and it as rated at 175 HP. If a customer wanted the now
available 144" wheel base, he had to take the 12 Cylinder engine.
In 1937 there were two other major changes... 4-wheel hydraulic
brakes and an independent front suspension. In spite of the
company's overwhelming orientation on engineering excellence,
Packard cars were always regal in in appearance. These were the
cars preferred by society's elite, moguls of industry, stars of
entertainment, and Royalty throughout the world. The owner of a
Packard 12 was in a very special class of its own. These cars
exuded quality and status in the typical conservative Packard way.
1937 was the Packard 12's most successful year with a total of 1300
built. Eastern Shore Classic Cars is excited to bring you this
amazing 1937 Packard 1508 Model 1034, a 7 Passenger Touring Sedan
with divider window. A full CCCA Classic, it is ready to show or
tour. A great candidate for a CCCA CARavan. In addition, it would
be welcome at any Packard Club meet. It will cruise easily on the
highway at 70-75 mph. Only local speed restrictions keep it from
reaching its limit. This car has been owned, loved, and maintained
by one family for the past 46 years. As a family treasure it has
been pampered and maintained to a high-level of quality. Not a show
car, although it could have been and still could be, it was driven
and enjoyed by the family, providing an exceptional carriage for
special occasions, transportation for a date, or just a drive
through the Connecticut countryside. It was repainted once prior to
current ownership, but one would be hard pressed to tell it without
careful detailed inspection. The bright work is excellent showing
off the attention to detail and quality built in to all Packard
automobiles. The engine was completely rebuilt in 2021 and has only
logged about 300 miles since the rebuild was completed. Complete
documentation of the rebuild is available. Total mileage shows
76800, with approximately 5000 miles driven since 1972 based on
service records. The interior is completely original. It is in
great condition showing only normal wear. The car was delivered to
the Packard owned New York City dealership in February of 1938,
suggesting that this car is one of the last 12's produced for the
15th series. In our opinion, this car rates a very solid 2
condition code - described as a well restored or combination of
superior restoration and excellent original. Alternately described
as an extremely well maintained original showing minimal wear. We
