For Sale at Auction: 2019 Porsche GT2 in Monterey, California
After the release of the massively powerful street-legal GT2 RS and
highly-limited track-only 935, Porsche Motorsport would follow with
the most powerful, track-only GT customer sports car they had ever
built - the GT2 RS Clubsport. Offered as a high-performance turnkey
race car created to dominate track day and Clubsport events at
racetracks around the globe, the GT2 RS Clubsport provided a highly
potent and desirable platform, largely similar to the track-only
935. Complete with carbon fiber bodywork, a stripped out interior,
integrated roll cage, BBS light-alloy forged center-lock wheels,
integrated air jack system, plastic windows, and a 115-liter safety
fuel cell, the biggest difference between the 935 and the GT2 RS
Clubsport was perhaps the significant $351,000 price difference the
two. At a substantial discount to the 935 for an almost identical
race car, Porsche Motorsport would build 200 GT2 RS Clubsport
examples for those wanting to hit the track as quickly as
possible.
Powered by 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine, the
Clubsport offered a perfect combination of impressive power paired
with race-proven components, delivering 700 horsepower thanks to an
optimized intercooler featuring a redesigned supply and return air
feed, as well as its race-optimized water spray system. With nearly
340 pounds of weight savings over the GT2 RS street car, rear tires
measuring 310 mm-wide are assisted by a massive rear wing to help
manage the prodigious power of the GT2 RS Clubsport.
While the Clubsport was not designed to compete in a specific
racing series, the single-seater racing-car would serve as a
popular choice for both track-days and international motor racing
events. The chassis was specifically designed by development
engineers in Weissach with separately adjustable compression and
rebound stages on the three-way shock absorbers allowing for
steering response and handling characteristics to be adapted to
suit any track profile. Best described by Porsche, "This not only
ensures total precision on every circuit, but also maximum control
when driving at the limits at the track."
A single-owner example never before used on track (in fact, it
still wears its original Michelin delivery tires), this 2018
Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport was purchased new directly through
Porsche Motorsport North America, entering a prominent collection
where it joined some of the world's finest automobiles on private
display. As a result of this careful preservation, this car is
offered in excellent condition with just 60 delivery kilometers and
has been spared from the typical wear endured during track use.
This example is sold with both main keys, spare parts, assorted
tools, Porsche Motorsport technical binder, and a factory fitted
car cover. Geared towards the privateer driving enthusiast and
track day aficionado, the GT2 RS Clubsport is the essential weapon
for those who will settle for nothing less than first place at a
track day or event.
