It's right in the VIN, this is a real GS 400 convertible, only
2,454 were made total! How many were factory red with air
conditioning like this one? It has had the same owner the last 29
years! Very well cared for, unabused condition.
EXTERIOR: Great looking body lines on this convertible! After my
inspection I'm really impressed, it's outstanding. It is clean and
straight, it fits properly. No rust or damage. Repainted it's
original signal red and it is polished very smooth and glossy. Up
front the grill, bumper and trim are shiny and fit nicely. The back
bumper is shiny and has a vintage AAA emblem on it. Overall very
nice original chrome and trim. The black convertible power top is
in good shape. A set of Chrome Cragar wheels with BF Goodrich tires
keep it looking muscly!
INTERIOR: Very comfortable and unabused interior. I'm looking at
the dash with some very unique features: it has a speed minder and
a climate control system. Overall it looks great. It's not cracked,
cut or broken. There is a set of gauges mounted neatly under the
dash. The upholstery and door panels are in excellent shape down on
the floor. It has nice carpet and original floor mats. Interior
lights work, it has complete set of seat belts and the original
steering wheel.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The correct 400 makes 340 hp and 440 lbs of
torque. It has been rebuilt and at the same time upgraded with an
Edelbrock intake and carb. Features include factory air
conditioning which we did service and is blowing cold. It also has
power steering and power brakes. Just like the rest of the car it
is unabused and proper. It still has the overflow bottle and shroud
for the cooling system, the washer bottle is hooked up to the
squirters, it still has the flaps over the suspension. The metal
surfaces are clean and painted nicely.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Convertible trunks tend to leak and rust, well
not this one! It is absolutely dry, original metal inside with a
neat spatter finish. Under the trunk lid and the jamb are painted
nice gloss red. It has a working trunk light. It also has a
complete jack and spare assembly.
UNDERSIDE: Under this car is very original, maintained as needed.
It's in good proper condition. The dual exhaust has glass pack
style mufflers. Upgraded air shocks in back. It has the Buick big
finned drum brakes in front, e-brake is hooked up. Floors appear to
be rock solid original metal.
SERVICE: We inspected the car and charged the a/c system, replaced
the rear view mirror, replace the turn signal canceler, replaced
the pressure hose for the power steering and adjusted the
brakes.
This is a rare GM muscle car convertible! Having a/c and being red
are certainly 2 big pluses too. It's a good looker and a very
comfortable, easy car to drive.
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure
your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do
a walk around video that explains the car's condition in
detail.
