Only 50 miles on a professional body off frame restoration to
factory specs. This is a #s matching car throughout. Original
"Black Plate" California car. We have the California plates that
have been with this car since new and the registration to prove it!
It's an early build, Nov 8 1962 with several unique early features:
storage trays under the seats, frosted hubcaps, signal seek am
radio, black oil fill tube and dip stick, T-10 trans, roller latch
on fuel door, different spare tire carrier, short stem mirror and
more.
EXTERIOR: This is one of the nicest mid-year Corvette bodies I've
seen. It is absolutely straight, there's no signs of body work
showing anywhere. I didn't find any cracking. Everything lines up
probably better than it did when it was new. The doors click shut
with ease. The headlights open and close properly. It has correct
T-3 bulbs and fiberglass buckets. Repainted it's original Daytona
Blue color and it's gorgeous. I'm sure it is polished much smoother
and glossier than it was in 1963. All of the exterior chrome and
trim was replaced or restored. Reproduction glass. We just
installed brand new reproduction knock off wheels that look
amazing. The original hubcaps will be included, they are very rare
early caps with frosted centers.
INTERIOR: The dark blue interior is restored like new. It has the
correct 6,500 redline tachometer for a fuelie and 60 lb oil
pressure gauge for early cars. It also has the correct, original
plastic glove box door unique to 63 only. It has the signal seeking
AM radio, AM-FM didn't come out until later. It all looks great,
fits great and functions great!
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: This is a correct #s matching 327-360 hp fuel
injected motor. I spent several hours on this car cross referencing
date codes, casting numbers, stampings and everything checked out
for me. We have a list and pictures of the codes in our pictures.
Correct fuel injection unit, distributor, exhaust manifolds and air
cleaner assembly. It also has deep groove pulleys for the high
revving engine, correct alternator and larger pulley. Reproduction
hoses and clamps, 1963 radiator and expansion tank. It has the
upper and lower ignition shielding. Correct spring clamp battery
cables. Every component looks like it's restored and properly
installed. Wait until you here this run, it's a serious muscle
car!
UNDERSIDE: The body was removed from the frame and all the
components were taken apart, rebuilt and restored. This is the
first year they offered independent suspension front and back. All
the steering and suspension was rebuilt. These had drum brakes, the
system was completely rebuilt. Hoses and lines replaced, e-brake is
all hooked up. It has the correct style exhaust system with the
polished slash cut tips going through the valance. Looking up at
the motor it is spotless Chevy orange. It has correct starter,
canister oil filter and it has the lower ignition shielding. The
T-10 4-speed is VIN # matched to this car, dates and codes appear
to line up too. Early cars had T-10s, then they switched to Muncie.
It has the original 3.70 posi rear end. Dated and coded properly
for this car. The frame and chassis components were prepped and
painted a smooth gloss black. The fiberglass floors appear to be in
excellent shape, I don't see any damage. It has the early
production storage trays in the floor. It also has the correct
early style spare tire carrier.
SERVICE: We inspected this car and it passed with flying colors.
The only thing my shop did was add the new wheels and rebalance the
tires.
This car really checked out. I spent a day researching the early
63s and this car is right! A split window is highly sought after. A
frame off restored, #s matching fuelie car is the ultimate. The
colors are great on this one too. I also think it's really cool it
still has it's original California "Black Plates", it's lived in
California it's entire life! This is an outstanding investment.
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure
your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do
a walk around video that explains the car's condition in
detail.
**These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a
particular car make an appointment with a salesman to see that car.
Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the
showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded and you
will be given a 1 year membership.
