the 1.6L 4 cylinder engine producing 60 bhpThe 356 is a lightweight
and nimble-handling, rear-engine, rear-wheel drive, two-door
available both in hardtop coupe and open configurations.
Engineering innovations continued during the years of manufacture,
contributing to its motorsports success and popularity. Production
started in 1948 at Gmnd, Austria, where Porsche built
approximately 50 cars. In 1950 the factory relocated to
Zuffenhausen, Germany, and general production of the 356 continued
until April 1965, well after the replacement model 911 made its
September 1964 debut. Of the 76,000 originally produced,
approximately half survive. In late 1955, with numerous small but
significant changes, the 356 A was introduced. Its internal factory
designation, 'Type 1', gave rise to its nickname 'T1' among
enthusiasts. In the US, 1,200 early 356s had been badged as the
'Continental' and then a further 156 from autumn 1955 to January
1956 as an even rarer T1 'European' variant after which it reverted
to its numerical 356 designation. In early 1957 a second revision
of the 356 A was produced, known as Type 2 (or T2).Introducing our
lovely 356 A 1600 Coupe. A beautifully restored example finished in
the classic silver exterior with red leather interior. She is
believed to be a matching numbers car but we are waiting for
confirmation by Porsche. Our 356 A started her life back in
Pennsylvania in the United States and was brought back to Europe
where she underwent a complete restoration. There is not a single
nut or bolt that has been left untouched. You can tell that she has
been lovingly restored in the past with great attention to
detail. The first time you lay eyes on her, you will be captivated
by her shiny metallic silver paint. And the wonderful chrome capped
wheels. She will stand out at every car show, that is for sure.
Inside you will find an equally well restored interior, with
luxurious red leather seats and period correct carpets to complete
the look and feel. Her interior is a great place to spend many fun
miles with your passenger from going on a Sunday cruise or going
out for dinner. Every ride will be a special occasion. And the best
part about our 356? The way she drives of course. She wouldn't be a
true Porsche if she didn't drive great. She is powered by her
wonderful 1.6L air cooled 4 cylinder engine which has plenty of
power to keep up with modern traffic. Her (matching) gearbox is a
smooth shifting example that adds to the great driving
experience. Our 356 truly is a well restored example that will put a
smile on your face every time you turn the key. And when you park
her up in the evening, you will have that wonderful exterior to
look at. Don't miss your chance to drive through summer in this
unique example.
