Vehicle Description
CPR Classic is delighted to offer this lovely 1965 Porsche 911
finished in its original color combination of Signal Red over a
black interior. This example underwent a complete, ground-up
restoration by DNA Motorsports of Miramar, California.
This 1965 911 began restoration at DNA and was completely
disassembled to the bare tub. The car was stripped of its existing
paint and all necessary metal repair and metal replacement was
performed. Following metal, the car was placed in heavy primer and
then meticulously blocked to ensure laser-straight levels of finish
on all panels. All gaps were set to factory tolerances during the
process. Following detailed preparation, the car was refinished in
its correct shade of Signal Red.
Following paint, the car entered assembly where it was reassembled
utilizing its correct original parts. Correct hardware has been
used throughout. The suspension was fully restored including new
surface finishes and bushings. The bright work was polished and
re-chromed. Items like the brake calipers are original restored and
the car retains its complete Webasto gas heating system. Exterior
components are a mix of originals and very high-quality
reproductions.
The engine was fully overhauled in-house at DNA Motorsports and is
a correct 1965 unit. The engine has its correct Solex carburetors.
Hardware is clear zinc plated throughout. The fuel pump is the
correct double diaphragm-style run from the camshaft nut. The
airbox is the correct, taller example. It starts, idles, and drives
as it should.
The interior was refinished in its correct black vinyl and the car
still has its correct interior components throughout to include the
original wooden steering wheel.
The 1965 Porsche 911 marked the beginning of a leap that would
catapult Porsche into being one of the most successful and revered
sports car manufacturers in the world. The level of innovation and
development that came with the first 911 was remarkable, and
instantly put Porsche at least a decade ahead of the competition.
The 911 has continued to develop over the past 59 years and has
remained the flagship of Porsche, but it all started with the first
911 innovations in 1965.
This 1965 911 presents an opportunity for someone that would like
to experience where it all started with the 911 model. This example
is beautifully restored, sorted, and ready to be driven, showed and
enjoyed by its next lucky owner. If you want to experience the
exuberance and joy of one of Porsche's early 911 models, this
Porsche is the one for you.
