Vehicle Description
Chassis No. 1FAFP90S85Y401810
Born during a wave of fresh thinking, rebirth, and retro-inspired
nostalgia, the Ford GT was first shown as the GT40 concept in 2002
at the North American International Auto Show with not only a
similar nameplate, but styling that paid tribute to the company's
original GT40 race car of four decades prior. Following instant
acclaim and significant interest, production quickly began by the
end of 2004 where each car started life in Ohio before final
completion took place at Ford's own Special Vehicle Team (SVT)
facility in Michigan. As a fully modern, state-of-the-art supercar
designed to compete against Europe's best, the GT utilized a 21st
Century design with aluminum composite body panels, bonded floor
panels, and a one-piece carbon fiber rear clamshell over a
longitudinal, rear-mounted supercharged V-8.
Designed to compete with Ferrari both on and off the track, the
Ford GT offered vastly superior performance figures compared even
with the more expensive F430 of the time thanks to a monstrous
5.4-liter V8 assisted by an Eaton supercharger to produce 550
horsepower. Paired with a Riciardo six-speed manual transmission,
the GT offered a top speed of 204 miles per hour and zero to sixty
in just 3.4 seconds. Not only fast in a straight line, Ford also
equipped double-wishbone suspension and Brembo brakes, which made
the GT remarkably fast on both the street and track.
Completed on 9 September 2005, this Ford GT was delivered new
through Estabrook Motor Company of Pascagoula, Mississippi where it
was originally equipped with all four available options. Finished
in a sinister Mark II Black Clearcoat exterior with optional BBS
painted forged lightweight aluminum wheels and painted Gun Metal
Grey brake calipers, this car offers a rarely seen exterior
presence with the removal of the Silver GT stripes typically found
on the hood and roof. Featuring an Ebony Black leather interior
with upgraded McIntosh Audiophile audio system, the GT benefits
from many standard amenities such as air conditioning and carbon
fiber bucket seats.
According to records on file, after this car was delivered it was
not officially sold or registered until 30 November 2010 when it
was purchased by the late Mr. John Hartford, a renowned
Jacksonville-based collector of performance Ford cars. It is now
offered on behalf of his estate with 4,530 miles at the time of
cataloging. According to the estate and corresponding records, this
GT was looked after by Coggin Ford in Jacksonville, Florida. A
well-preserved example driven sparingly, this car is still equipped
with what are believed to be the original tires. Complete with
three vehicle keys and two fobs, the owner's manual, quick
reference guide, and tire inflator are included as well. As one of
only 238 examples finished in Mark II Black Clearcoat, this Ford GT
offers exceptional rarity more comparable with the ultra-limited
Heritage Edition GT and is sure to be a feature addition of its
next collection.
