Vehicle Description
2000 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am
A muscle car, by definition, is a powerful and sporty vehicle that
must be able to spin its tires at will. The Firebird Trans Am is
capable of laying down twin black streaks of rubber several hundred
feet long. We wanted to be sure it could but didn't dare especially
due to the cars low mileage.
For consignment, originally from our friends up north in the St.
Therese, Canada assembly plant, this sculpted and aerodynamic
T-topped muscle car. A 1 owner car with its extremely low title
verified original miles, having a mere 35,244 on the clock. A
consignor stated original car which has been garage kept its entire
life, and all in showroom condition.
Exterior
All dressed up in Bright Red, from the 2 bumps at the front of the
fenders that magically turn into headlights, to the Ram Air intake
cowling hood flanked by 2 front fender bumps, and more intake
inlets on the quarter panels, we are in aerodynamic heaven. This
styling continues to the severely raked windscreen, to the rear
trunk lid that seems to go on forever as it becomes an integrated
spoiler and all the bulbous contours of the body. All in nice
condition, and an available T-top setup comes with this car.
Honeycomb style wrap around tail lights bring up the tail end and
hover above a Bright Red neoprene crash bumpers. Factory correct
16-inch wheels wearing 245/50ZR16 rubber are seen on all 4's.
Interior
Ebony leather covers the two front power buckets, the rear 2+2
bench, and steering wheel, as well as gearshift. Leather is soft
and supple, showing no folds or errors. This car has 6-way power
seats on the driver's side and a manuallyadjustable seat on the
passenger's side with power lumbar adjustments. A swooping center
console is flanked by the buckets and makes its way to the dash
while including a glove box/armrest, cup holder, gearshift, climate
controls, and AM/FM/CD player. The normal cluster instruments are
clean and bright and nice matching Ebony gray carpet floods the
floor and up high hangs a felted headliner that frames the tinted
glass T-tops perfectly.
Drivetrain
A 350ci, 5.7L for those of you using the metric system, LS1 V8 is
found within the engine bay and is electronically fuel injected. A
4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission is bolted to the back, and
these in combination make use of the 10-bolt rear axle with
posi-traction and this in turn allows the tires to spin and make
the black marks on the pavement!
Undercarriage
The undercarriage is showroom with no dirt or scratched paint.
Power front and rear disc brakes are on all the corners, and this
car comes equipped with electronic traction control. Keeping this
flyer firmly grounded is independent coil spring front suspension
and in the back we note a torque arm with coil springs providing
the ride. Factory installed single pipe to dual outlets after the
OEM muffler is on for the exhale.
Drive-Ability
This car started right up, and even smells new! Smooth shifting,
nice power and great ride as well as interior comfort. One gets the
feeling of driving a piece of sculpture with all the inlets and
curved cowlings etc. Overall a great driver like new, (and it
almost is!), with only the up and down movements of the power
mirrors being non-functional.
A very low mileage, 1 owner, garage kept and well cared for example
of the modern style Trans Am. Aerodynamically designed and
performance enhanced to be reliably driven, hassle free. Press the
button, open up the top panels and make some marks on the
pavement!
