According to the Porsche Kardex, this 356B Cabriolet was originally
delivered by Porsche Car Pacific in San Francisco to the first
owner in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was finished in Aetna Blue with a
light Grey interior. Currently finished in Silver Metallic with a
Navy Blue interior, Grey German square weave carpets, Black soft
top, and boot cover. The mechanical was refurbished by Makellos
Classics in Escondido, California, in 2021-2022. This work included
rebuilding the carburetors, transmission, suspension, brakes, and
heater system. The fuel system was cleaned, the engine was tuned,
the oil and filter changed, and a new battery and Sprint Classic
tires were installed. A total of $27,000 was spent.
The Silver Metallic exterior paint is complemented by a Black cloth
top and boot cover, along with chrome 15" chrome wheels, and SUPER
hubcaps with colored Porsche crests. Revisions of this model
compared to the 356A included raised headlights, re-contoured
front, and rear bumpers, and brake-cooling intakes below the front
nose in the lower horn grills.
The interior features Navy-blue front seat, dash, door panels, a
black VDM steering wheel, Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, and chrome
trim.
The 356B is equipped with a matching 1600cc air-cooled, flat-four,
engine that produces 60 hp @ 4500 rpm with 81 lb-ft @ 2800 rpm.
Power is directed to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual
gearbox (Type 741) with four-wheel drum braking system. Improved
equipment for the 356B compared to its predecessor included new
cast-aluminum Alfin B brake drums with iron liners, and improved
sealing to direct water away from the brakes.
The sale of this 1961 Porsche 356B Cabriolet, located in
California, will include a clean title and service records.
