Vehicle Description
2014 Ford Mustang Roush Stage III Convertible
The third generation of the Roush Mustangs debuted in 2005 and was
based on the new S197 model style GT Mustang. Packages included the
Roush Sport, Roush Stage 1, Stage 2, and Stage 3. ROUSH Performance
also introduced several special-edition Mustangs. Of note were the
BlackJack Mustang, 427R Mustang, 427R Trak Pak Mustang, P-51A,
P-51B, and the Speedster. Other special edition Mustangs included
the 428R Mustang, the RTC, and a special package for the 4.0L V6
Mustang. For 2010 ROUSH released a redesigned Roush Mustang lineup.
Available options for the year included Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3,
427R, and the new 2010 ROUSH 540RH Mustang featuring 540 hp. In
2012 ROUSH debuted their new Stage 3 Mustang. The car featured
painted stripes, Premier Edition side badges, vehicle-matching
interior elements, as well as horsepower and suspension
enhancements. ROUSH announced the return of their Premier Edition
Stage 3 Ford Mustang in 2013. New for the 2013 model year lineup
was the ROUSH RS Mustang, based on the popular V6 Mustang platform.
The Mustang featured a standard 305 horsepower powertrain, in
addition to a high flow upper grille, front chin splitter, side
rocker splitters, and rear decklid spoiler. The car also featured
custom 18-inch premium painted aluminum wheels. Jack Roush and the
folks at ROUSH Performance also went on to team up with Ford Racing
to create The Ford Racing 5.0L DOHC Aluminator crate engine. The
motor, which retailed for around $8,879, was an optional powertrain
upgrade on any manual transmission Stage 3 Mustang. For the 2014
model year, the company planned to once again offer a variety of
different model Mustangs, from a stylish V6 Mustang all the way up
to the company's supercharged ROUSH Stage 3 pony.
For consignment, a 2014 Mustang with heavy Roush styling influences
in the form of a Stage III package. All decked out in Darth
Vader-esque black, this 30,040 title verified car has menacing
written all over it! As it should with 575 supercharged ponies
under the hood, loaded with every available option, and having only
been in the possession of 2 caring owners. Add in the original
window sticker, some dealership paperwork and couple that with this
car being 1 of 53 convertibles built for the 2014 model year...Easy
there, the force of this car WILL be with you.
Exterior
For this flexing muscle Ford went all out for the design and the
ladies and gents at Roush took this to the utmost level.
Reminiscent of the early models it looks far more beefier, and more
refined on the line aspect than even a run of the mill Mustang GT.
The front of the car is more "aero" designed, and has an integrated
body matching bumper, unique grille fascias with integrated aero
"pockets", small fog lights within the lower bumper and a race
inspired front splitter crafted into the front lower fascia.
Sinister Darth Vader-esque Black covers the steel panels are very
nice with well minded gaps, the front quarters have the appropriate
R badging, and the door keeps the hockey stick cove Mustang is well
known sans dress up or brake cooling scoops on the rear quarters.
For some extra wow, Magnum Gray decals are dressing a scooped and
heat extractor equipped hood that is on between the fenders and
gives the perfect modern muscle look. Meanwhile, on the short
decklid is a racy spoiler while just below is the signature faux
Roush badged gas cap. The duo of trio taillights harkens back to
the first model, and are now larger and flattened, but still
reminiscent of past generations. Dual exhaust peeks out of the aero
rear valance lower bumper and anthracite 5-spoke 20-inch Roush
wheels are wrapped by nice rubber all around. These wheels are a
beautiful contrast to the menacing black that bathes this car all
over.
Interior
Nice simple door panels utilize molded black plastic and stitched
charcoal black cloth and a tasteful touch of thin trimming along
with power window toggles, power lock switches and huge speakers
with the driver's door holding the power window control. Inside we
can see the Roush white face gauges from the dash on the beautiful
charcoal black high-backed leather buckets with gray suede inserts
with even higher headrests. And you will need it as when you smash
the accelerator it will snap your head back and press you firmly
into the power driver's seat. In back are 2 plus 2 bucket/bench and
these are also very nice. A center console runs through the buckets
and houses the automatic shifter. As it rises to the dash center,
we note the dials and buttons for the climate control and heated
seats as well as the Sync equipped AM/FM/Navi/CD Changer Shaker
stereo system which is part of the fairly rare electronics package.
Above is a black padded vinyl topped dash and within a silver
brushed aluminum dash front are 2 large round deep set gauges,
(again reminiscent of days of yore), with a central huge cluster,
all analog save for the digital odometer readouts. Black carpet is
below and a Roush light bar is noted above. A shout out to the
trunk with its factory Roush tool kit bolted to the trunk lid and
all is looking factory fresh because with a mere 30,040 miles it
is.
Drivetrain
A Coyote 5.0 Liter V8 with EFI sits between the shock towers and
makes 575hp in stock trim thanks to careful tuning and research by
the folks at Roush. Helping achieve those superstar numbers is a
Roushcharger AVS 2.3 Liter supercharger. Attached to the back of
this mill is a SelectShift 6R80 6-speed automatic transmission
which puts power rearward to an 8.8" 3.15 TracLoc geared rear.
Undercarriage
All strong and sturdy unibody and rockers with plenty of ground
effects panel coverings to produce a free air flow undercarriage.
Brembo power disc brakes are on the front and rear. The suspension
includes independent coil springs up front, and a 3 link with coil
springs and a panhard bar in the back with the addition of Roush
Black coilovers The factory Roush Sport Tuned dual exhaust
systemsends spent fossils through the factory cats and out the back
via Roush mufflers.
Drive-Ability
Climbing aboard this rocket ship I'm grabbed by the buckets, and
begged to close the door with the warning sound. The candles lit
right up, and I was off to the test track. This car performed
beautifully, and cornered well, had blistering acceleration from
the supercharged mill, and also will cruise nicely at very low
RPM's with the 6-speed tranny.
A very clean all kept example of the Roush inspired Mustang. It's 1
of 53 convertibles built for the model year, loaded with every
option available and with the supercharged Coyote under the hood we
have the power of the force with you. Grab your lightsaber and
climb in. We are on the hunt for the Jedi.
