Vehicle Description
It's hard not to be attracted to a cool cruiser like this 1964 Ford
Falcon Wagon. It's a rare sight that's been preserved/restored to
be a true cruiser with details like solid V8 power, an upgraded
suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, and a custom/comfy interior.
And you are going to love its unique story.
We're told the original family owned this Falcon for decades. It
has a bit of a barn find tale where it was stored in a basement for
40+ years before being resurrected and transformed. But the
restoration process did not want to erase this car's legacy. After
all, these wagons are rare. They were often the most expensive cars
in their model line, even priced above the convertibles -
especially in the top-tier Squire trim. We're told the paint is
actually the factory application (with a few key touch-up spots.)
It helps say to the car's unique history. And the good lines and
clean glass really tell you this was not used up on the school
runs. So sure, you could give this wagon a metallic finish upgrade
and put some wood graphics in the side trim, but we think it would
be hard to do anything cooler than the well-earned patina style it
has today. Plus, you can tell they made key investments in the
right places to signal how much went into this wagon just by the
shine of the bumpers and roof rack. The crystal clear headlights
lowered stance, and 17-inch Billet Specialties wheels are all part
of what makes this true classic also look like a true cruiser.
Like the exterior, they wanted the interior to keep as much of the
classic barn find legacy as possible. But at the same time, they
tried to make a solid investment to ensure all the right pieces
feel fresh and inviting. So now you have fantastic new upholstery
with well-bolstered bucket seats up front and a comfy rear bench.
Fresh carpeting and a custom center console are part of what makes
this attractive. But for those who like true classics, you can
still show off original details, like the full cargo area. And it
also makes the rear much more practical with a thick rubber mat and
user-friendly style. It has great cruiser amenities like provisions
for air conditioning (it will need servicing,) cup holders, and an
upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo with a USB to plug in your smartphone. And
you'll appreciate the vintage details of a premium wagon, like the
fold-down rear seat and power tailgate window. This is also a true
driver's wagon with upgrades like the sports steering wheel, a tilt
column, and a complete Dakota Digital gauge package upgrade.
While the exterior and interior give hints of originality, the
engine bay is a pure upgrade. It's a fresher 289 cubic-inch V8
built with Flo-Tek aluminum heads, an Edelbrock aluminum intake,
and topped with a Holley four-barrel carburetor. The Hedman shorty
headers add power while also helping to give a sweet tune to the
dual exhaust. There are nice supporting pieces like the aluminum
radiator, an electric fan, an MSD coil, a matched Ford racing cast
valve covers, and an air grabber. It's a solid and fun driver that
wants you to feel the road like a true classic but with a sharper
sense. So you have a Heidts Mustang II-style front end, QA1 rear
adjustable shocks, rack & pinion steering, and four-wheel disc
brakes.
