2016 Mercedes-Benz C300 Sedan
The W205 generation of the Mercedes C-Class has become a firm
favourite, with almost 60,000 sold in Australia alone across sedan,
estate and coupe variants, plus the addition of an eye-catching
cabriolet model, (in 2016). The W205 was built on a version of the
same Modular Rear Architecture, (MRA), platform used for the
E-Class and S-Class models, utilising high-strength steel and
lighter aluminium bodywork to decrease weight by 100kg over the
previous model, with corresponding efficiency benefits. No longer
the 'baby Benz' after the introduction to the range of the smaller
CLA-Class, the C-Class was instead modelled as a 'mini S-Class'
with an increase in size and space, plus a more familial
resemblance in design that brought technology and safety innovation
to the fore. The latter included nine airbags as standard, PRE-SAFE
collision preparation, and options such as DISTRONIC PLUS automated
cruise control and Active Parking Assist. It was also the first
time a plug-in hybrid model was offered in the C-Class range, while
other models received 'mild hybrid' assistance from an onboard
electrical generator capable of storing and deploying energy to
improve overall performance. The Mercedes-AMG C 63 was fitted for
the first time with a version of the 4.0-litre biturbo V8 used in
the Mercedes-AMG GT, delivering big power coupled with impressive
fuel efficiency. Innovations such as AMG RIDE CONTROL sports
suspension with three-stage damping adjustment, plus a RACE START
function, combined to build on the model's reputation as a
trackday-capable family cruiser.

Exterior
The factory applied coating of Iridium Silver Metallic covers the
straight, dent-less panels that make up this car. The gaps remain
laser straight, just like when the car rolled off the assembly line
and up top is the panoramic sunroof. Aerodynamics are at the
forefront of this design, with every line, crease and panel well
thought out to reduce drag and increase efficiency as this silver
bullet cuts through the air. Standard 10 spoke 17-inch Mercedes
Benz wheels all around with 225/50R17 radials from the 30th week of
2019 that show little wear. Ultra bright headlamps sit within clear
plastic covered headlight clusters with LED daytime running lights,
twilight sentinel and locator lighting flank a very nice tri-star
badged twin bar grille. Out back a small spoiler is perched atop
the trunk lid giving this Autobahn cruiser a bit of sporty
attitude. 4 doors and power folding, driver's auto dimming and
heated mirrors are noted on this euro styled aero design sedan.
Interior
Black MB-Tex surrounds you with all seating front and back, dash,
door panels, and center console making use of it. Plenty of
creature comforts abound with 14 point adjustable seats with power
lumbar, power locks, windows, mirrors, steering etc. A digitally
lighted dash appears when you light this car up with the fob. An
AM/FM/CD/XM/Bluetooth radio can be tuned from the center control
wheel at your fingertips on the console. This is also how you put
the car into the preferred drive mode. A navigation screen, audio
adjustment and seat adjustment graphics share the screen. along
with a phone connection via Bluetooth. Within all this clean black
is a peppering of dark Linden wood burl accenting all lacquered and
nice seen on the center of the dash, console, doors and accenting
the dash as well. Rounding out our tour is clean black carpeting
flooding the floors and a gray felted headliner frames the
panoramic sunroof above.
Drivetrain The small but mighty 2.0 Liter direct injection
turbocharged 4 cylinder provides extensive power, (241hp), to get
you going down the road smoothly. Bolted to the back is a 7-speed
automatic transmission utilizing all gears for acceleration to fuel
saving. This transmission sends power to the front and rear wheels
full time, (4-Matic), which are turned by 3.07 geared axles both
fore and aft.
Undercarriage
Clean, no rust, structurally sound, as expected of a low mileage
2016 model car. Independent suspension is all around with
Macpherson struts in the front and coil springs in the rear, and
power disc brakes are on all corners. This car comes equipped with
brake assist and Collision Prevention Assist Plus Attention Assist.
About the only thing this car can't do is pour your coffee and cut
your Black Forest cake.
Drive-Ability
A personal test drive and I can attest that this car will allow you
to cruise all day, and you will not know you've even done it. The
power steering is total quality and the acceleration is wonderfully
smooth. As noted, this is the perfect car for the on the road job,
much like a rolling exclusive office with everything at your
fingertips. All wrapped in silver paint and black leather, and
ready for the open road, with all functions fully operational.
