Vehicle Description
What a wonderful piece of Americana offered here. Chris Craft has
been building beautiful watercraft of all shapes and sizes since
its founding in 1874. From its early beginnings building a few duck
hunting boats for friends and families, to early racing boats and
high-end wodden pleasure boats to Detroit's automotive wealth, the
craftsmanship was second to none. During its post-war "Hayday",
Chris-Craft's expansion was nationwide. Chris Craft offered 159
different models, many with personal touches gear toward their
ownership's fancies.
The 1960 Chris Craft Capri 19 offered here has been loved and
nurtured by the same owner for the past 25 years and has always
been kept in a boathouse or storage building. It is powered by its
healthy 283 V8 engine. The boat has been in the water every year
under the current ownership and has undergone a full refurbishment
in 2004 and refinished in 2022 including bottom paint. Large
attention to detail has been executed to preserve the integrity of
the original hull as well as maintaining the running gear. Notable
equipment includes: Racing style steering wheel, racing style full
view rear view mirror, tachometer, oil pressure gauge, voltage
gauge, vernier throttle control, brass twin deck horns, 20 gallon
fuel tank, master power control switch and bilge pump.
Just 112 Capri's were made for model year 1960. The boat offered
here is a fine example of American history. It is turn-key,
recently soaked, and ready for enjoyment. Documentation includes
pictoral history of the refurbishment.
