Vehicle Description
The 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 was already a track-focused
machine, but a select few really understood the difference that
comes from the ultra-rare and ultra-hot C7.R Convertible. And if
you missed your chance at this supercharged speed machine, then
this ultra-low mileage example is your special second chance at
something basically brand new.
This Corvette Z06 was an instant legend for the way it took the
already capable C7 and made a more powerful and track-ready car. In
fact, it really was only a few degrees away from the track-only
widebody Corvette Racing Team car. And the C7.R basically closed
that gap. The heart of the upgrade is the carbon fiber ground
effects package. This may sound like an add-on when you read the
press release, but it was downplaying the fully-engineered
air-bending lightweight lit that makes this car stick to the tarmac
and shaves real time off of each lap. While it makes for a
competition-grade car, we can't even tell you if this example ever
left the garage. There's only 24 miles on the odometer, which is
basically delivery miles. So the factory black paint truly has a
new car showroom level of shine. And you want to see this one under
bright lights or the sunshine because there are amazing details
that only really show for those paying attention. For example, did
you see how the carbon fiber hood now has the special Corvette
Racing Jake in the racing stripes? Another piece that's a bit more
obvious is the set of special 19-inch black wheels with yellow
accent strip and matching brake calipers. It's easy to download all
the info on this car anywhere from the internet because the back
was a big deal when it came out only a few years ago. It's not only
the engineering that makes this an instant classic but also the
rarity. There were only 650 examples made for the world, and when
you factor in the color and transmission, the rarity is said to be
one of only 22!
While the C7.R wanted to be as hardcore as possible for the
racetrack, Chevrolet did not take anything away from the interior.
Instead, this is a luxurious 3LZ trim convertible. It's a supple
mix of Alcantara and leather that looks terrific with bold yellow
contrast stitching on the seats, dash, center console, door panels,
and steering wheel. So while the optional racing seats are designed
to keep you planted while attacking the corners, it's also quite
comfy to power adjust to your ideal driving position. It's part of
an excellent driver's package that includes a grippy sports setting
wheel, paddle shifters, and your gauges include a display screen
that you can choose to highlight everything from your huge speed to
the g-force of the corners. And the Head-up display means never
taking your eyes off the road. More than just track-ready, there
are tons of desirable luxury features like power windows, power
locks, keyless entry/ignition, dual airbags, side airbags, power
steering, and cruise control. The touchscreen infotainment system
is filled with options, so it includes satellite navigation,
Bluetooth, satellite radio, a backup camera, Apple Carplay, and a
premium audio system by Bose. It's the kind of crystal clear audio
that lets you hear your favorite music even when the top is down
and you're approaching track day speeds. In fact, the modern
dual-zone climate control and heated/ventilated seats mean you and
your passenger can keep an individual level of comfort even with
the top neatly stowed under the integrated tonneau.
The engine bay is packed with 6.2 liters of supercharged V8 power.
The LT4 motor was rated at 650 horsepower, which cemented its
supercar status. Plus, the eight-speed automatic transmission is
designed to be an excellent overdrive cruiser for when you want it,
and the paddle shifting option is there to shift faster than a
manual gearbox when you need it. While it seems no one has taken
this one to the racetrack, we do know from other cars that it is a
blacktop stunner. Magnetic ride control means the suspension can
handle everyday commuting, and with the turn of a knob, it can
become a track-focused machine that sticks better than glue. This
is a complete setup down to the performance Brembo carbon ceramic
four-wheel disc brake package and Michelin Sport Cup 2 performance
tires.
The sale comes complete with the original window sticker and
factory buildsheet to make sure you have the right paperwork
whenever you want to show or auction this very rare drop-top. After
all, the C7.R is quite a special car, and when you have one of the
rarest configurations around, there's a lot of admiration/value
when it has this museum-level of preservation. So if you're a true
collector, call today!
