Vehicle Description
1992 Ford Bronco XLT Nite Edition
The "Nite" package was a special edition package that was available
in 1991 and 1992 on the Ford F-150 and Bronco models. The package
was for the most part an appearance package, with the most
noticeable features being the black paint & trim, and special multi
color stripe and Nite decal on the sides and tailgate. Way back in
the Ford Model T days, Henry Ford had said you could get the Model
T in any color you wanted as long as it was black. Apparently Ford
thought that sounded great for '91 and '92 because the only color
you could get the Nite edition was in Raven Black. But that's ok
because it looks really sharp! The Nite package, (available on the
F-150 XLT Lariat truck), also included 235/75/15 white-letter
tires, alloy wheels, and sport suspension. The Nite Bronco also
included a Nite logo on the rear spare tire cover. In 1991, you
could only get a "Nite" truck in a regular cab F150. In 1992, you
could get it in any style F150, (Styleside, Flareside, SuperCab,
etc), in addition to the Bronco. These trucks came with either a
302ci ,(5.0), V8 or 351, (5.8L), V8, and in either 2 wheel drive or
4 wheel drive.
For consignment, a rarely seen XLT Nite edition of the 1992 Bronco
from the blue oval. Faithfully maintained through the years and
coming from a single family of ownership that's ready to show and
haul. It's all there, fully functional, has sporty wheels and a
removable hardtop. Full size 4 wheelin' with the classic Bronco
look.
Exterior
Sinister Raven Black bathes the hood, cab, sides, and gate, and
lower portions of the XLT series station wagon...yes, that's how
they are titled. A black fiberglass top is installed and can be
removed to give you an open-air option. The paint presents with its
fair share of chips and haziness and could truly benefit from a
good paint correction to bring back the depth. A few areas of
invasive rust are noted on the rear wheel arches, base of the
passengers front quarts and along the bottom of the tailgate.
Chrome is kept to a minimum with the exception of the Bronco
badging and tailgate mounted spare tire surround. Slightly faded
bright red fading to pale pink stripes race down the beltline on
each side and culminate with a semi-script Nite decal at the upper
rear of each quarter panel. Nearly new, 33rd week of 2022 date
code, knobby Cooper Discoverer AT3 radials are on all 4 corners,
and wrap large polished aluminum wheels with locking hubs. Aluminum
running boards help those of short stature up and in with ease and
out back are tall wrap-around tail lights hovering above the black
steel bumper.
Interior
2 overstuffed charcoal gray tweed buckets flank a large center
console with a glove box large enough to almost fit a small
suitcase! The matching rear bench which will fold down expanding
the already spacious cargo area is installed behind the buckets.
Driver's and passenger's buckets have power lumbar adjustments and
the rear bench seat is in nice nearly unused condition. The dash
setup is standard Ford fare with 2 tone charcoal gray and black.
Moving to the doors we see some charcoal suede and molded plastic
panels and present in overall good used condition. Power windows,
power mirror, and power locks are noted by their buttons in the
doors. Cruise control is on the steering wheel whichfronts the
analog gauge cluster complete with its LCD odometer readout.Good
quality but lightly soiled dark gray carpeting is covering the
floors and rear cargo area.
Drivetrain
A 302ci V8 fed by EFI lurks in the cavernous engine bay with an
overall patina, some dust, and surface rust on the untreated parts.
A E4OD 4-speed automatic transmission is attached to the back and
sends power to the 3.55 geared rear axle when in 2-wheel drive mode
and to both the front and rear axles when 4x4 is engaged.
Undercarriage
Up in the air, the undercarriage greets us with some surface rust
on the untreated components with no structural damage and even the
untreated factory floor pans are still looking good. Radius arm and
coil springs for the front ride and leaf springs for the back.
Power disc brakes are upfront, and power drums on back. Stock style
single exhaust snakes its way rearward and while surface rusted
remains fully intact.
Drive-Ability
The test track was no match for this big Bronco. Smooth
acceleration, good handling for a truck and plenty of creature
comforts that worked perfectly and it stopped on a dime. While we
didn't take any off-road excursions but we were able to engage the
4 wheel drive with success.
With 85,196 unverifiable miles, things remain fairly nice for the
single family owned wagon/SUV. Fully functional down to the power
tailgate window and cold air conditioning, this well cared for
Bronco runs nicely with plenty of power if you want to rock and
climb!
