Beautifully preserved, original 1972 Mercury Cougar XR7 Convertible with just 52,000 original miles. Purchased new at Kirkland Motors in October of 1972 and Finished in Light Pewter Metallic, Black interior with leather seating surfaces and equipped with 351ci V8, Select-Shift Automatic Transmission, Power Steering, Power Front Disc Brakes, AM/FM Stereo, Interval Wipers, Right-Hand Racing Mirror and Tinted Glass. Its first owner traded it in when it was just one year old, it was purchased by its current family in October of 1973 who brought it to California when it was three years old, owning it ever since. Includes books, manuals, dealer purchase paperwork along with a copy of the factory window sticker.
The Light Pewter Metallic finish has been remarkably well preserved after a lifetime of living indoors. The front right fender was repainted at some point. The original working power top is still in nice shape. The trim, glass, lenses, and chrome are equally tidy. It rides on its factory wheels adorned in the original hubcaps and wrapped in P205/75R14 whitewalls with 90%+ tread remaining. The undercarriage is stock and tidy and untouched as well. This is a great-looking, very attractive Cougar all around.
Inside you'll find an immaculate time-capsule interior with excellent original leather seating, door panels, cards, and rugs and the dash and wood applique are clean with all working gauges, switches, and radio. This is a very comfortable and luxurious XR7 for even the longest drives. The original trunk mat, spare, and cover are present and in good condition.
Under the hood the original 351 cubic inch V8 fires up easily, idles smoothly and quietly with plenty of power and the shifting is spot on. The brakes and suspension are responsive and the exhaust is quiet making this Cougar a relaxing, comfortable drive.
