For Sale: 1972 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 in Wichita Falls, Texas

Vehicle Description

A super nice 1972 Chevrolet Camaro that the owner it was acquired from had repainted in 2007 adding a custom scoop off a 1998-200 Camaro SS molded into the hood while also adding a black Z/28 stripe and emblems.  The prior owner stated that was all that made a 72 Camaro a Z/28; however, this car did not leave the factory as a Z/28.   The prior owner's description also stated: "It originally had a white interior but switched to black about the same time as the paint.  It's powered by a high-performance built small block 350 with JE Flat-top pistons, CompCams Cam & lifter set, high volume oil pump, and the heads were reworked with Lunati springs and roller rocker arms.  It's fueled by a manual four-barrel Holley 850 cfm carb. Transmission is a Turbo 350 automatic with a 3:73 rear axle ratio."  When we acquired it from that person, he had just completed the engine overhaul but over-torqued the rocker-arms/valve springs (which for CompCams require a different torque method than typical) and subsequently wore down the cam lobes greatly reducing engine power.

So here's the story since our acquisition in 2008 to the best of my knowledge.  My late father bought the car with the damaged engine, had the engine removed and sent it to one of his 2 preferred engine builders to repair.  There's at least a 1" thick folder of receipts and other documentation for this car but cannot find the specific invoice from the engine builder showing what was done except for a sheet with the following specs: "2 Bolt main, 0.10-0.10 crank, .40 over bore, Hypereutectic flattop pistons, Comp 274 extreme energy hyd cam with 490 lift intake and 274 lift duration and 490 exhaust lift with 284 exhaust duration, 991 casting heads, 2.02 In - 1.6 Ex stainless valves, Z28 valve springs, Early ignition with crane electronic module".   I don't know if that list being in the file means that is what the car has now or not.  The above mentioned folder has receipts documenting the replacement of almost every piece of interior including the steering wheel and dash, new Z28 oem style wheels rubbered by new 235/60r-15 BFG T/A Radials, both front floorplans were replaced, a new radiator and other parts - just to name a few.  If you are serious about buying this car, copies of all the receipts can be provided.

In summary, this is a really really great looking very solid Camaro with excellent paint and as near to new interior as a 51 year old car could have along with a no excuses above average powertrain that should be reliable for many years and miles to come.  Understand that every effort has been made here to describe this car and its history as accurately as possible but the car is being sold as-is where-is with everything subject to any potential buyer's inspection and verification.  To clarify that further, all of the descriptions provided above are made from the present information available but the exact history and what has been done to the car is not known exactly; however, the car has been driven very little since it's 2008 acquisition, been stored inside and has had a lot of money invested expended in labor and parts.  Will be happy to answer any other questions not addressed here or by the photos.  Thanks for looking.
